there are two different versions. the main one being the 1/12 scale that shared the chassis between the lunchbox. The other was the QD pumpkin which I am not too familiar with but do know that it didn't share much if any with it's 1/12 scale brother.

Good choice, the Pumpkin.

I heard it was a bit of an uncontrolable dog, but having taken my new built one out over the weekend i found it's far more fun and controlable than my MB.

I didn't get mine till i was 33. All those wasted years... [:(]

With the pumpkin and lunchbox, either you love or hate them. I love mine but some people can't stand that it wheelies all the time.

Hi i had a pumpkin when i was 11 but couldnt remeber what they were like and this year santa left me one under the tree (im 27 now) It has got full bearing kit, mtroniks esc and a tamiya sport tuned motor and it is the most fun thing to drive ever[:o)]. The wheelies are always a crowd puller. I am just in the middle of doing the 3rd shock on the gearbox mod to it.

I am also doing lunchbox resto. I always wanted one of the these babies[:D].

Great site

How quick are the pumpkins as standard?

stock they are fairly fast. In mine I run a 15 turn mod motor and it's a handfull

They are great fun, full of character and always look good at the park/woods. If you ballrace it, you should find that the stock motor has plenty of power to enjoy it. I would recommend oil filled shocks though, they make a major difference to the handling, and the "third shock" mod at the rear is worth doing too. (Haven't got around to that yet though).

Hi again just finished the third shock mod . Took it out for a burn and it has impressed especially as its increased my wheelies by a couple of metres ideal. Seems more rigid on the rear and less sloppy.

Are you sure your motor is ok? I am using a 15T mod on my Dynastorm and its flying, can't imagine a MP with such a motor having even a trace of control... [8)][?]

With a full battery it is hard to keep it on the ground. You really have to ease on the throttle. A full jab of the throttle will get it to dance on the back wheels which most of the time with make it flip over even with the wheelie bar in place.

My 4p worth - with a powerful motor the Pumpkin is good if you discard the long pinion and that plastic motor extender and fit the pinion off a grasshopper II (can't remember the number of teeth exactly) as it gives not only a higher top speed but reduces the wheelies back to the sort you'd get with the standard pinion motor setup. Ran one of these for a long time with a Technigold in it and a large pinion, back when they were new... it would out run virtually anything and was in fact very stable with CVA's all round.

That's some good advice Neil, might try that out myself when the weather gets better. Are grasshopper II pinions still available in the shops?

Would reccommend using a GHII pinion only with a very torquey and relatively low RPM motor as other ones would be pretty overgeared due to the larger diameter of the MP tires.

Hey all.

I know very little about... well, RC really! but which motor would you guys recommend with the GII pinion? I have an unlimited ESC and i suspect the CVA's from my MB may 'drop off' onto the MP which should make it handle okay.

I'm still unsure about the torque/RPM thing.

Thanks,

Rick

It's still a small pinion though realative to the more modern machinary, probably not too overgeared due to the simple drivetrain?
