Hi,

I am buying an ESC for my TD and I cannot decide which one to get,

LRP A1 Pro Reverse, Nosram Magnum Reverse or KO Propo KSC 1000FR.

Any advise will be appreciated. I also intend to purchase the Kyosho

Magnetic Mayhem motors from Tower Hobbies when they have stock for the reverse. Thanks.

Li.

I'm running the Ai pro reverse with mayhems in my boyer and it's perfect for me.

But other ppl will use a diff setup so i think it's upto the individual what he/she prefers.

Any mid-range speedo capable of handling 11 turns or less will be fine (That will take the Mag Mayhems which I believe are 23 turn singles). I use LRP F1 Pro, Mtronics RV11 and Mtronics truck (both the Mtronics are discontinued) in twin motor trucks and they are all fine. Justs make sure you don't buy a real cheapo speedo and you should be fine, also check the voltage capability as you might want to upgrade to 8.4volts at a later date and not all speedos can handle that. The ones you've listed should all be fine though.

I use a Mtronics 4 ECO 20 in one Det with 2 x 23 turns and a Ripmax No limit in the other Det with 2 x 19 turn. Both are cheap and both are working really well!! Ripmax No limit - £40.00 ebay! But I did read a post regarding the Ripmax's poor tolerance to getting wet so make sure you get a waterproof esc or a housing of some kind

cheers

I use a Duratrax 8T. not the racing 8T, i am satisfied with it and i can go as low as 2 16T motors with it and stay within limits. price is a hefty $75 USD but like i said its fine for me, since i use 550 motors im my Twin Det.

I am also looking to put an ESC in my Wild Dagger. I was looking at a M-Troniks Sonik 4 RV11. This has an 11 turn limit. By reading the threads that should allow me to run 2 22t turn motors. The Mag Mayhems seem to be a popular choice. They are given as 23 turn in this thread. Will I be able to run them with the Sonik 4 RV11, or should I allow a little room for safety on the turn limits?

Also I was going to cut off the wires from the stock twin motor MSC and stick a couple of bullet connectors on the ends. This would then plug straight into the new ESC, wiring done! However, do I need to be careful of introducing another connection into the system? I'm not too worried about a minor drop in performance from the resistance caused by another connection but I am concerned about the connection overheating.

The esc will already have bullets so will plug into your existing loom. The Shopkeeper (Neil @ Time Tunnel) commented in another thread that the mtronics 4 esc's seem to be very durable and can possible handle lower motor turns than their limit so your should be fine. I have an ECo 20 in one Det with 2 x 23 turns and it hasn't skipped a beat! (I would love a "bells and whistles" esc but this have to do for now)http://www.mtroniks.net/mtroniks_SC_products.asp?CategoryID=1&SubCategoryID=2l for info on the RV11

Hi everyone, I am a bit new to this and would also like to fit an ESC to my new Twin Det (So appologies I am going to sound thick[:I])

I see from the threads you can fit what seems to be standard ESC (eg ECO20) to the twin det, but how do you do it, is there a y plug, which you connect both motors to and then to the ESC (If so where can I buy one?), or do I have to do the wiring myself (Again if so, how?)[?]

Also, I know this is a but subjective, but is there a specific ESC, which may be better than others - I don't want to spend too much (Maybe up to £30ish. Initially I plan to use 2* RS540 motors, again will these make much difference to the steel can?[?]

Sorry to ask sooo many questions - I told you I was thick. Any help would be grately appreciated

id="quote">id="quote">Hi Gilberto, I wouldn't recommend an ECO20 for this unless it's all you can stretch to, but others seem to have used them with no probs. I like Mtronics speedos, but would suggest you go for something a bit tougher like an RV. For information on the wiring needed, see my showroom, should give you some help on doing it, it's quite an easy job.

Thanks jozza, that is a great help. I'm planning to use some Tamiya RS540's in replacement of the steel cans - will these be any good (ie substantially better than the standard motors) or should I go for different motors altogether?

I can thoroughly recommend the Kysoho Magnetic Mahem motors, they are designed for twin motor trucks (there is a forward and a reverse one) and they are much faster than the standard motors and high torque too.

Tower hobbies are the best bet - some UK LHS stock them, but not many, they are as rare as hen's teeth here in the uk. Well worth getting hold of though, and worth the import duty. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXW929&P=ML

An alternative is to use a couple of modifieds, but the timing on the front one has to be adjusted to make it work well in reverse. That's a bit beyond me, but I think it has something to do with changing the timing and testing it on a dyno. What I like about the MM's is that that has already been done for you.

Hi,

I am still waiting for my MM's from Tower Hobbies. Jozza how much was the import duty for the MM's if you don't mind me asking. Thanks.

Li.

I must admit I can't remember what the duty is, but at the price of the motors from the US compared to what I've seen them for in the UK it could be 100% of the purchase price and you'd still have saved money.... (At the moment they are $19.99 each + $17.99 post, so that's $57 for 2 motors. In the UK the only place I've seen them charge £35 each..

And if you're lucky they come through without the duty being charged [8D]
