Hello people.

I am new to this site and am in need of some help.

I have recently converted a manta ray into a monster truck for my son. The problem that i have is that the batteries are draining very quickly ( faster than normal ). He is using a standard motor and gearing.

What could be the cause of this??

Does anyone know of a website that i can get some chrome wheels from for my sons car, He is using wild dagger wheels and tyres at the moment and i don't want to have to buy any more tyres as the ones he has got are brand new ???

Any help would be great.

Many Thanks

Darren

Most likely over geared with the new bigger wheels/tyres.

You will need a smaller(?)pinion for the motor, dont know anything about the Manta Ray so cant help, maybe someone else can....

HPI so some chrome spoked MT 2.2" wheels, they are called 'super star' I believe. However, you need to make sure you order the special ones that have a lot of offset so that the wheel sits further away from the suspension. The standard HPI MT Wheels will rub on the suspension uprights otherwise.

I believe www.modelsport.co.uk stocks them. If you call and explain that you need the super star MT wheels with large offset and you'll need two pairs of rear wheels because they have the hexes for drive as your manta ray is 4WD. (They do front sets which are for bearings on 2WD trucks)

Hope this helps, Ian.

HPI ship their new wheels with adaptors to allow them to fit on the blackfoot and many other different types of truck.

If you already have ones on the blackfoot you won't really be able to use them on the manta ray because the blackfoot is only 2WD the front wheels use bearings rather than drive hexes/stars. You would need to buy another pair of rear blackfoot wheels. I'm not sure that the blackfoot rear wheel drive adaptor will fit onto the manta ray axles anyway? have you tried? I think it is too thick so that not much thread is left on the axle to get the locknut on?

Thanks Ian

I have found a pair of rear chrome Super Blackfoot wheels on ebay that use the 12mm hex.

Just need another pair now.

When I emailed modelsport.co.uk re. the HPI super stars I had this response:-

quote:The Twin Detonator using a very wide off set wheel. The HPI wheels do not have the same off set so I am unsure whether they would be suitable. The only chrome wheels we have with the same off set are the Tamiya ones supplied with the Wild Willy 2, however, they are supplied with tyres fitted.
