Hello

I bought a NIB Detonator for a good price yesterday via ebay.

Hopefully it will turn up in the week so I can start building it.

It will be stock apart from different paint and possibly oil dampers.

Should I glue the tyres to the rims or I'm sure I've read something somewhere about elastic bands ?.

Thanks

Don't bother with superglue. What you do with elastic bands is you put one or two bands around each outer rim of the wheels where the tyre sits, and that should stop spinning and gain traction!

According to the manual you shouldn't superglue them, presumably to protect the gearbox. But if you don't, it's not long before the tyres start slipping in the rims and you lose performance. The rubber band trick works really well, gives the tyres more grip and the advantage that you can still remove them easily. Or, just put a couple of drops of superglue on each edge of the tyre; that gives the grip but allows you to pull them off with a bit of brute force if you need to.

I've used both methods, superglue and rubber bands, and both have worked really well. So far I haven't killed any gears on the Twin Det or Wild Dagger either...

It hasn't turned up yet, hopefully it will come tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip on the elastic bands, I'll try that out as I don't really want to glue the tyres.

Any ideas for a colour, I've got a dark metallic green that I'm thinking of using.
