I have searched the forum but couldn't find my answer. I want to put quicker motors in my Dagger. I have an 11 turn esc so I can't go below 22 turns on the motors. I understand that one will have to be timed to run in reverse. The ideal solution would seem to be Mag Mayhems. However, I have heard that these can be difficult to get hold of in the UK. I don't have the skill to reverse time a normal motor. Are there any other motors that fit the description above or are very simple to reverse?

Easiest bet is Tower hobbies as they did the mag mayhems with one in reverse - I know its still youSA but tower are really good to deal with and very good prices compared to here. For youK could try Fusion or Goldstar on these forums to see what they could do.

or a cheaper way of reverse motors is to buy a pair of cheap budget modifieds and turn 1 off the the endbells 180 degrees to turn it into a reverse rotation motor.thats all i did for my clodbuster.

Noooo! [:0]

Turning the endbell around 180 degrees is the same as just swapping the wires over, it doesn't alter the timing at all.

Biggins you need to buy a pair of motors with adjustable timing. To keep it simple don't buy a pair of stock motors, they require a bit more work to reverse. Zero timing should be marked on the label near the endbell. On the edge of the endbell there will be a notch that will usually be 3 - 6mm to one side of zero timing. What you need to do is move the endbell so this notch is moved the same distance from zero in the other direction. First mark the position of the notch on the can as a reference. Loosen the 2 screws holding the endbell in place a couple of turns and the endbell should turn. Move it clockwise until it is the same distance from zero as it was before, just in the other direction. Tighten up the endbell screws and you are done.

If you want to go easy on your ESC you can reduce the amount of advance on both motors, making sure one is advanced and one is retarded. If the timing is reduced the motors will draw less current with a slight drop in top speed and power. Never set the timing on zero though, this is because as the armature turns it twists the magnetic field inside the motor. Zero advance in reality is slightly retarded, so you actually get better performance and less current draw with 1 - 2mm of advance timing.

Easiest way to do it is to get a pair of Mag Mayhems from Tower Hobbies. They will cost about half the price they cost here, even when you've paid the tax (with Tower you normally have to pay tax as they declare the goods properly). You do have to wait a few weeks for them to arrive though.

I run Mag Mayhems in the Twin Det and Dagger, and will be getting a pair for the Clod too. It's much less bother than working out timing on modified cans IMO.

How long did you wait for your mag mayhems from Tower? If you are going to the kent bash 01.05.05 I will try to get along as I'm only just down the road to see how they go

They took best part of a month to reach me [B)]. Turns out that most of that month was spent sitting in the uK customs though [:(!]. I'm not sure if I'll be at the 01/05 Kent Bash yet, got a possible race day on the 2nd and my other half won't let me out for 2 days in a row LOL..

They are certainly well worth getting though; they transformed the performance of my Twin Det, it can now wheely forwards and rear on tarmac on a dry day, and handles a treat in the rough. I've got the stock 18T pinions in the Detonator and the 20T pinions in the Dagger, and the Mag Mayhems are fine with both, the 20T pinions give slightly more speed and slightly less wheelies..
