Im looking for another off roader for my rapidly increasing collection.

Im after something that is quick but also has a good ground clearance.

How does this compare to a savage (apart from being electric)

Whats the difference in size between the two as i have only seen a savage in real life.

Not the TD as far as I know, despite twin motors it isnt very quickout of the box and doesnt have a lot of ground clearence.

I think the term "chalk and cheese" comes to mind,a TD would fall to pieces with some of the stuff the Savage is capable of,have a look at some of the Savage vids on the HPI website to see what I mean.

The Savage is about as wide as the TD is long!

The exact TD sizes might be found on this site.

Twin Det is fun, but not particularly fast. If you change to the 21T pinions and put a couple of Mag Mayhem or similar motors in it will be rapid enough for an electric truck. Ground clearance is okay, but it really needs oil dampers to improve it.

I've got a Savage, Twin Det and Wild Daggers. The Savage is completely different to the Twin Det - Savage is capable of over 40mph and is extremely tough, the Twin Det would be left standing. The Twin Det is about 2/3 of the size of the Savage.

The Tamiya trucks which I take out the most are the Det and the Dagger, they are my favourite bashing Tamiyas for use in a small area or places where the noise and speed of the Savage aren't acceptable. For small wooded areas, park driving etc they are really good fun, they handle well, jump nicely and look good.

Cheers, only got about £100 to spend as i was going to get a gravel hound but decided i wanted a truck.

Want to drive the car really and have fun with it, not just stick it on a shelf.

Sadly where i live, petrol engines are out of the question.

It won't handle as well as something like a buggy or a stadium truck but won't be too bad. It does share the same problems as the Twin Det in that the shocks are ridiculously short and also of the friction type. I should imagine that the BFE would be less capable offroad than the TD although top end would be similar and the BFE would be more tail happy. If you have your heart set on Tamiya, it may be worth considering a Stadium Thunder or Blitzer, they are an older chassis but sit lower so will handle and jump better. They also come standard with oil shocks which is a bonus.
