It all depends on what you are after. They both have a great deal of potential for what ever you want. they both can be great crawlers and they both can be made into racing machines. The only one with a slight advantage (if you're on a budget) is the E is much cheaper out of the box other than that they are both great rigs, IMO of course

hey, how you doin. I've had both and heres my 2 cents worth.

E-Maxx- relatively inexpensive, great fun out of the box good speed and durable. You can even replace every part of it with an aftermarket one. Downside is you plug and go, no quality time with it until you break a part.

TXT-1. Out of the box, slow in comparison, but man it can climb !But if you drop in some hot mod motors (or a brushless)it'll blow the doors off an E-Maxx. Relatively expensive to make it compete, but you get to build it from the ground up so that you get to know it well and you can add aftermarket parts as you build. Top reason for TXT-1 is the scale appearance!

The summer special issue of Radio Control Monster Trucks available in June has a E-Maxx/TXT-1/Twin Force shootout as well. Having had both I would recommend the TXT-1, you can check my TXT-1 out here:

Hmmm...I never thought about going fast with the TXT. For some reason, it just says "Crawler" on it lol. I would seriously love to try that, what are some good setups for speed on the TXT? I have a Novak SR on mine with some Traxxas servos and a Graupner Speed 600. For now, speed is ok. But I would like to go faster, I am really liking the new HV BL system. But for now, that is out of my budget.

jdmctr98,

It really depends on what you want to do with the trucks. I think the Emaxx will handle way better than the TXT because of the suspension. I have thought about getting an Emaxx before, but decided maybe it should wait because for the price of an Emaxx, I can try out the HV on my TXT. Those thoughts are put aside for now, I really want a 3-speed now lol. Anyways, the Emaxx have more aftermarket support. Also if you will bash the truck, you should go for the truck that your LHS stock more parts for. Although, so far, the TXT have been pretty tough after some hop ups.

Thanks guys for the answers. The reason for my asking is that my dad

is going to Hong Kong next month and hopefully he will buy one for me.

I have not decided yet because the Hot Bodies E Zilla is coming out at the begining of June and I like the look of it.

Thanks again.

Hi Chris,

I still cannot decide what to get. I saw on Dingball site that he has the Kyosho Twin Force for $240.00 or should I get a crawler TXT Extreme about $330.00?. My dad has just informed me that if I want to go to HK he will pay my fare for me. Great news!!. I wonder where are the RC shops in Mongkok?.

I recently came up on a local deal on the Kyosho TF, but too bad I am tight on cash, or else I would of picked it up right away! I heard that the TF is very durable, if you want a basher, TF will be better than the TXT. Because the TXT is a lot more heavier than the TF. TF has a simple design, a bulletproof drivetrain from its brother, the Mad Force which can handle .21 engines. So a pair of 550 would be piece of cake for it.

Btw, tell you father to check out KWS (Kwong Wah Street) in Mongkok. The whole street are hobby shops. But the prices are not that much different than you see on the HK online shops. What you will save is on shipping (around $50-100 on kits) if your father is carrying it for you. Also something to think about is, for the fare of the trip to HK (depends where you are), you can buy tons of stuff in HK.

hey shearman. On june 7, Radio Control Car Action will have the annual Monster Truck issue on sale. And it has a shootout between the Twin Force / TXT-1 / E-Maxx. They will use the same motor/speedo combos for all three, so if you can wait till next week pick up the mag and all your answers will be there. On a side note, I am currently seeking a clod based Gecko II crawler because my txt is for bashing very quickly. And I want both worlds !

lol backtomyroots, weird, I just post my Gecko2 up for sale locally last week.=/

Email me at wchung2913@rogers.com if you are interested.

Btw, I am not really a big fan of RCCA, they have too much advertising in their mag. It's always T-maxx everything too. I think the Emaxx will win on their shootout. I like RcDriver, I just picked up the June issue. There was an article on the Super Clodbuster and the Hornet, a custom made Twin Force axle crawler, and an article on how to build a tube frame for your crawler. RcDriver has a good mix of everything, even boats!

I live in uK and I am flying to Malaysia first and then to HK for a few days. I have heard of Kwong Wah St. I have £300.00 to spend on RC stuff. I might pay Dingball a visit but have to make appointment with them first.

Hi there,

I have them all three, and I must say you can't compare the TXT with the E-MAXX. It's like comparing apples with oranges. Even though the TF seems like a fusion between the TXT and the MAXX, rigid axles are almost all beside the dual motors that is comparable between TXT and TF. The TF is more comparable to the MAXX in performance. I am running my TF with the EVX from the MAXX (Which is waiting for a HV-MAXX-Set), and I must say it is very versatile. I guess it's a little bit more rugged than the MAXX.

So if you go for speed and bashing, I would recommend the TF or the MAXX.

If you want to crawl, I guess the TXT is a nice model. But I would say you would have to get better motors ... and use a very sticky grease in the diffs or lock them up (at least the rear one). The stock silver cans aren't performing at 7.2V.

Cheers

Martin
