A GOOD blow torch, a standard one won't do the trick!!

Aluminium is a pig to braze/weld well!!

Have you thought about brass tubing??

Normal blow torch and SILVER solder is good for this

And by silver solder i mean proper silver solder not the normal plumbing stuff

i wont get to technical but aluminium can only be either TIG welded, or MIG welded, gas welding it simply does not work well at all, you end up with a puddle of contaminated ally, or very poor joints.

it is an absolute pig to weld because of its low melting point.

for a top job, TIG welding is the way to go, but it doesnt come cheep, and its not easy, especially with thin materials.

a mig welding plant thats capable of aluminium welding doesnt come cheep either, the model i use at college for aluminium welding cost over £6000 [xx(], and the tutors dont know how to work it lol [:o)]

fatboyslims idea of using brass tubing would get the job done perfectly, and is far more achievable using d.i.y tools [:D]

thanks to everyone who has given advice towards this and maybe i will go with the brass pipeing idea as its will be cheaper.
