Picked this up the other day due to boredom.

Built it in 1 day, then waited a week to paint the shell. In that time I have already ordered a full compliment of 24 bearings, so preceded to pull the rear box apart.

Locked the rear diff with some "metallic cement" and now its sitting there waiting for me to get the bearings to finish it off properly.

Dyed the rims black, put some elastic bands around them then mounted the tyres back up.

Was inspired by a model here so did a similar paint scheme that I think came out quite well.

Ditto - mine needs a few things done too.

Shocks, motors and wheels are next. Then maybe a high torque servo for the steering (the standard Acoms one I have in there isn't great).

Wish they did uJs for these, because the dogbones on mine are pretty noisy, especially when turning...[V]

Yeah esc/shocks/batteries all the good stuff to come.

not quite at the stage of a HT servo yet, the std futaba one i have done a great job for now... maybe with some savage/maxx rims on it :D

Ahh ok, mine aren't really noisy at all yet .. will have to see what happens... although some uj's would be nice

What did you use to dye the rims, and what was the process for doing it? Looks great, and I think I would like to give it a try on my KBFoot Rims.

Thanks for the comments :D

I used just a generic powder dye that i found in a haberdashery(sp?) store.

A lot of people use RIT dye, but i couldnt find that so i just used what i could find in powder form.

All i did was the following.

Hope it makes sense if not feel free to ask :D

You will need to following items

Dye

Pot to boil the dye in

Rims/whatever else you want to dye.

After you have this

Fill the pot with warm water and put all the dye in it

Chuck in the wheels/whatever else you want

Put a pinch of salt as it starts to come to boil

Turn the stove down to a simmer

Keep checking on the rims until they have reached the desired colour and to ensure they dont warp.
