I have a Wild Dagger and would like to increase the models speed, I fully ball raced the model as it was built.

I have read various threads but to be honest ½ the information goes over my head [V]

Obviously I want to the keep the cost to a minimum but in laymans terms: -

What electronic speed controller would I need for the 2 motors?

What hop up motors are recommened for the Wild Dagger?

Hop up shocks?

Any other recommendations will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance![:D]

In answer to your questions:

1) A few people seem to use the Silver Star ultra ESC (£52 from Modelsport uK if you're in the uK), or as an alternative, the Novak Super Rooster, which is much more expensive. You could probably get away with slightly less capable ones that this, but it really depends what sort of motors you want to end up using - obviously the faster the motors, the more powerful ESC you will need to run them.

You will also need to be prepared to make up some leads for when you install your ESC, as most just come with leads for one motor. Basically, this involves making two Y shaped leads to split the single wires into two wires - one for each motor.

2) This is a slightly more complicated topic, and is one that has been covered in other posts several times. It isn't just a case of recommending a certain make, because unless you can find a specific type of motor, they need to be adjusted to work to their full potential on the WD. If you search for either 'wild dagger motor' or 'twin detonator motor' (as both cars use exactly the same chassis), you should find plenty of info. If you don't understand anything, reply to those posts and someone should be able to help.

3) Hop up shocks would probably be best obtained by taking your truck into a model shop and seeing what fits. The Tamiya hop up ones (item #53155 or 53280) work really well, but are shorter than the standard ones, so you lose a lot of ground clearance. Duratrax Competition shocks seem to be a popular choice - see them here: http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxc3500.html

I think you want the 3" ones.

Hope that helps...[;)]

Thank you for the information - Much appreciated!

Although not being particularly electronically minded, the though of modifying any wiring into 'y-shaped' anything is a little off putting, but i'm sure with the thing in front of me it'll be simple lol [V]

Yes ~i know, i've no hope! lol

You don't really need flashy alu dampers, the plastic 50519 C.V.A. Mini Shock II work 90% as good at half of the price if your car doesn't already have them.

Y-shaped wires are just soldering or connecting both motors wires to the ESC wires, just check that both gearboxes turn forwards when you press throttle to your RC.

For more information and some pictures to show how to do the "Y" wiring, take a look in my showroom, I've written a short explanation with pics for wiring an ESC on a Wild Dagger/Twin Detonator there.

As far as dampers go, I've got snazzy aluminium ones as I had them to hand, but I agree with what DJTheo is saying, the Tamiya CVA's are great quality for the price, and will give a far improved ride on the truck.

My Wild Dagger and Twin Det both have ballraces, ESC, oil shocks, Mag Mayhem motors (23turn I think) and the larger (21t) pinion. That's all I've done with them and I'm happy. It's given them a nice increase in speed and the shocks improve handling.

It's such a stable truck that I don't really think you need anything else, but if you really want to you can start to look at extended shock towers and aluminium chassis - I personally wouldn't bother though as the plastic chassis is fine and with the right shocks you won't need extensions.

When I get round to it, I hoping to to fit the electronic ESC and 2 20 turn motors with upgraded shocks.

Although I did read somewhere about an 8.5v battery being used [?] so i'll have to look into that when all is fitted.
