i've just got a wild dagger and want to install an esc, i already have a TEU-101BK and have no problems with wiring it to support twin motors but am not sure if it will handle it or not and don't really want to fry it.

the WD is only running standard motors

Any advice would be greatfully accepted

cheers

I would guess that the TEU-101BK would fry in a twin motor setup, as it's only rated for standard motors, and for a twin motor setup running standard cans you would need an ESC rated for 13 turns or lower.

cheers guys you may have saved me a few quid there i was gonna give it a try today.........

a couple more questions if you don't mind

1. which esc should i get? cheaper the better.

2. 13turn, 17turn, 20turn all mean nothing to me i'm afraid, could anybody explain what it all means??

cheers

The number of turns reflects how "hot" the motor is!

The LOWER the number of turns the "hotter" the motor.

The stock 540 is 27 turns, with the Wild Dagger they are obviously 2 motors.

If you use a ESC with a Wild Dagger you will need one that handles 13 turn motors or less, this is because although each motor is only 27 turns because there are two of them you divide the 27 by 2 which comes out at 13.5.

Although a lot of ESCs are rated this low a lot of them discourage the use of two motors with them.

I use this one in my TXT,

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...ion&ItemID=1512

and it is acknowledged as being suitable to do so although again the manufactuer doesn't state the fact in any literature!

Hi bennett,

In general, the standard Tamiya TEU101BK can't handle twin motor... it'll probably stop the motor due to over-current protection circuitary.

The funny thing is, I do see people use this ESC in WD/TD, these guys just put 2 of them each controlling one motor each... it may be a 'cheap' way but you need to figure out the wiring and

the setting. I' have't tried it myself.

Well you probl. can use the ESC if you

wire the motors in series.

Then the turn counts get 27t.

Lots of thourq but low speed[B)]

But I don't recoment that.tho..

id="quote">id="quote">This is quite possible, but unless the speedos are very well matched, it can cause problems (for example if one runs slightly slower than the other). The ideal setup is for a single speedo to control 2 matched motors. Then again, the motors are never likely to be 100% equal to each other, so it would probably work quite well. But the cost of 2 cheapo speedos would be as much as, or more than, one decent one, and if you run a single ESC it will be a lot less hassle to setup.

I use Mtroniks RV Max and Mtronics truck speedos in the TD and Dagger. I've also succesfully used a LRP F1 Pro with twin motors and it handles them with no problem (note that there are 3 levels of the LRP F1, and the Pro is the top one).
