Hi everyone, after breaking yet another axle on my King Blackfoot. I have decided its time to raid the piggy bank and get something bigger and better. I been looking at both the TXT and super clod and have searched the forum for threads relating to each and still cannot decide which would be better suited for my needs. I've always wanted a big monster truck, but never been able to afford one before now. I only really want it for driving about and general messing. Im not to bothered about crawling, if it can then even better, but I don't plan to do any modding. So im thinking that the TXT would be a good choice, out of the box its seems better than the clod. Although it costs a bit more, I prefer the design and the articulation on it is wicked. If I get one from ebay, most are shipped from hong kong and the price seems to be about the same as a new clod £220ish I think. On the other hand the clod is cheaper, but I don't really like the design of it. And it seems almost everyone has modded theres, which isn't really what I plan to do.

A stock TXT is obviously better than a stock clod, but the clod has more potential for hop ups.[8)][8)][8)]

If anyone has any advice, I would be most appreciative.

I have to lean towards the TXT-1. The beauty of the Clodbuster is in what it can become. Out of the box the clod is outdated but still a good basic performer, however with a set of hotter motors, the TXT blows it away. here is a link on a classy txt-1 in my showroom:

you will also notice my clodbuster is still NIB....coincidence ?

Without a doubt the TXT is by far a better performer all around but the Clod is still a Major part of RC history ( even the Super Clod , same thing with blue plastic ) . As far as just playing around and general bashing about a stock clod wont dissapoint you either . Oh , and not everyone mods out their Clod . I still run a basicaly stock Clod ( second run of them without the Chevy badges ). Ive only put a full set of berings , two Speed Gem2 Onyx motors ( 14 double ), Dean's connectors , and I run a seven cell pack . Sure pritty much any of the newer Monster Trucks will out handel it and mod frames are Over plentyfull . But for me I love my Clod the way it is , still looks like something from Tamiya ( just goes a heck of a lot faster now [:D] lol )... One of these days Ill get some picks of it ...

Well it doesn't matter anymore as ive just ordered one from ebay. It works out at £230 including a set of bearings ive also ordered. Just gotta wait now for it to turn up!

Good choice there

The clod is good, but the steering is limited in stock form, as well as the non oil filled dampers make it a pain.

But its a classic truck and a great little runner... even though mine doesnt run anymore lol :)

well limited in the fact that it mainly steers with the rear wheels when going forwards, and to get any real decent steering from it, you need to grind away a small part of the wheel housing things ( sorry its been a long day cant think of the word i want) to get better steering

backtomyroots,

Where you get the wheels and tyres? I been looking for them for a while. I can't find any online supplier for the proliner outback weld wheels. Any help would be appreciated. A link would be great.

The wheels you have on pics can you just put them on without ordering any additional parts?

Ive finished building it now and ive decided to use 4WS. The only problem is that i think im going to need some better servos. At the moment im using Acoms AS-12's and im guess there not really adequate. So can anyone suggest any better ones and if so would they still be compatable with my acoms reciever and transmitter??

Bad bad bad

You need to spend at least £400 on servos [;)]

There's some new hi torque, metal geared servos around, Bluebird make some, and there's quite a few 'clones' cropping up too.

As well as good servos, ditch the kit servo savers and get some Kimbrough 124's

They're sold in uK as CML branded normally, any good nitro shop should stock them, they come in black or white (white are 121's)

As far as I know, most servos are compatible with Acoms, but you may need to change the wires around - keep a servo for comparison, swapping the wires is easy, you just lift a clip on the plug, and slide the wire and socket out

Don't blame ya chap, for £25 posted it sounds like a good 'un,

I think Chris has them too.

Don't forget to let us know what they're like, could save me a fortune [8D]

MAYTAG:

Proline Outback Rims for TXT-1 Part #2665-01 (2665C) are a direct fit to the TXT-1, however have gone out of production. I found a LHS that still had 2 sets in stock and I purchased them. Make sure you get the Hobby Guys to "check the stockroom" because they never seem to know what they have hidden back there...............
