I know that Bauteil.de used to have a new improved steering set for XC chassis, but the site seems offline (or maybe down??). Does anyone know if there other suppliers for an improved (metal?) steering system for these cars?

  In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height. Is this what you had in mind?
