Hi peeps I finally bought my first nitro truck from ebay.

Tried to start it yesterday and it seemed just about ready to start (its got a rip start on it) so i pulled and pulled and the ripstart string came out!!! is this gonna be easy to fix?

And is there any other forms of start you can get for a hyper 21?

hyper 21's are stupidly tight when new,i have broke 3 of these engines in.

if you can afford it get a starter box...soooooo much easier.

when the engines are new they will stick at top dead center and jam the pullstart, you keep pulling until the string breaks, what you need to do is warm the engine up around the bottom part of the cylinder head for a few minutes with a hairdrier to loosen the fit up a little,if you dont then chances are you will break the string again...my brothers just bought a hyper 8 port and broke his pullstart within 5 mins because he didnt listen to what i was telling him,2 pullstarts later he starts to listen :)..if the engine gets stuck, get a flat bladed screwdriver and lever the flywheel roun d from underneath the chassis until it moves.

as shopkeeper says, dont pull the cord all the way out,4 inches should be enough.

Also, most >.15 Nitro engines are overtight on the pull when new but will start OK with reduced compression - just undo the glow plug an 8th to a 1/4 of a turn, just until the engine will turn over easier on the pull start, and you can hear a hissing as the piston reaches the top of it's throw - it'll usually still start in this state and once it's running and warmed slightly you can do the plug back up.
