I want to start building my tlt soon. Just need to get a few more bits. I don't know whether to use the standard silver can motor or get something else for it.

Would a LRP truck puller be a good choice ?.

It depends on how you want to run your truck. If you want a slow crawling truck a LRP Truck puller or a lathe motor would be a good choice. These motors have high turns (the Truck puller is supposed to be 80T and a lathe motor is usually 55T) and low RPM (6500-7500RPM).

I just put a 55T Eagle lathe motor in my TLT but I haven’t tested it yet. I tried my truck with the 540 silver can and in my opinion the stock motor lack torque at low rpm forcing you to use more throttle which causes the tires to spin (I still have the original tires which are not suitable for crawling since they are too slippery and too small).

However speed and acceleration is good enough with the stock motor so if you just want to bash it around it will do just fine.

I think I might go for the truck puller as I'm not that interested in speed with this truck, more torque and control for use in small spaces.

I have my Twin Det for bashing [:D]
