I got the details off DJTheo, as far as I can remember, you take two .jpgs, convert them into .gifs, then 'morph' them, save that as a .avi, then convert that into an animated .gif

I'm off home now, I'll have a dig round and try to find the progs I used, as the only straightforward GIF Morphing software I could find on the web was $40

How long did it take to load? I was really worried about the load time. It actually was pretty easy to do. It took me longer to remember which program I used to make it then to actually make it. [:D]

Anyone want me to make them one just ask.

I got a 56k connection, and after 4 minutes, it's still not merging (right click does not show 'save as' yet)

TamiyaNewbie;

I used Microsoft Gif Animator for part of it, and Winmorph V2.01 for the other part.

Both were freeware

I used Paint Shop Pro 5, which came on a cover cd off, I think PC Format. It only took about 10 minutes to knock up and it's best to keep it simple or it will take ages to load and no one will see it(calvin's is 1mb).

Just saved yours and it was 979k and mine was 295k

I tried to get photo quality like yours, but it was running into 3mb!

I think the fade/switch files will be smaller than morphs, although DJtheo's is only 118k and a **** site clearer than mine[:(]

'Fades' in animated gifs are about the worse thing you can do filesize-wise. Animated gifs store the difference between frames, if the whole frame is changing (because its fading between two pictures) it basically has to store a whole frame each time.

eg.

2 frames might be 50k each.

animate between them over 10 frames and you can quite easily enf up with a 500k animation.

A 'clever' true morph can swap between two similar images, and depending on the start and end frames you could end up with a 10 frame animation which only comes to 100k

The reference is set, 118kb, try to beat it... [;)][:D]LOL

Seriously now, avoid many different pics and movements, also you can pass it through the Paint Shop Pro optimizer.

Cheers

Calvin3, If I send you a couple pics, would you make them into a morphing gif so I can use as my signature? I can shrink my photos to a very small size if that makes it any easier. Boompowshazam@aol.com

First off, you need;

2 pictures for a 'morph' where 1 car turns into another

or

A selection of pics for a slideshow.

Then you need a program to do the magic.

I used Microsoft Gif Animator for part of it, and Winmorph V2.01

Jimbo used Paint Shop Pro 5

Calvin3 used Ulead Gif Animator

Once you got it animated, you need to put it on the webspace your internet provider supplies, then link to it using (img) and (/img) but replace the ('s with [ and the )'s with ]

This one below;

morph.gif

is displayed by typing;

(img)http://www.kerm1t.btinternet.co.uk/morph.gif(/img)

Don't forget the ( and ) need to be [ and ] though.

I have to type them as ( and ) to explain, otherwise you'll just get another pic.

Check the size of the file when you're finished, if it's too big, us 56k guys will have to wait hours to see it [:D]

Sure email me the pictures and what ya would like it to do. Sorry I can't morph....I can fade in and out, clock spin that kinda stuff. Let me know. Remember you still need some web space somewhere to host it.
