Hi,

This is a crude answer but the only way to do it is move the weight well forward and as low as possible on the chassis. Either mount the battery as far forward as possible or add a balance weight behind the bumper[;)]

i put a homemade wheelie bar on the back,made it so that you could change the hight of it so you could still wheelie if you wanted or keep it low for a bit of fun racing[:D]

There are a few things you can go

1) gear higher: put an 18t pinion on without the adapter. This will give yuo better top end, and cut down on the low-end power. Will still wheelie a bit as the 540's have plenty of torque.

2) use an ESC. The more gentle application of throttle that is possible with one will prevent wheelies by giving better control.

3)move weight forward. I put the receiver up front in the little space in front of the stering servo.I have my esc mounted to a plate fabricated out of spare lexan that is just behind the steering servo, so all radio gear is concentrated up front.

4) beef up the wheelie bar. I don't like the upside down wheelie bar as it comes in contact with the ground when going over obstacles. Isntead I put bigger wheels on it. Parma used to make a kit for this whicch included 2 slot-car foam wheels/tires, but I riggged up a similar system using an old front axle and a pair of tamtech rear tires/wheels.

Using a lexan body will help the handling of a runner. The plastic bodies are nice, but all that weight high up means these these trucks have a very high centre of gravity. A light body will help reduce wheelies, and especially rollovers. Personally though, I like the dodgy handling. It's fun and a bit of a challenge.

@retro:

Put some Monster Beetle tires (or some thing the same size) an a motor like 540VZ and you have a lot of fun and even more challange ;) ;) ;)

See my Midnight in the Showroom (sorry that it had King Blackfoot tires when I took the photos - some years ago it had the plated Monster Beetle wheels, that looked a lot better).[xx(]

DerAlex -

Yeah, mine is running Blackfoot wheels and tyres, oil shocks, 22 turn motor and a VW Camper shell. It's definately a challenge to keep it rubber side down.

To be honest, I prefer the looks of the standard wheels and tyres, not to mention a proper bodyshell, but since I never had them, I just built it up with what I could find. Makes a great runner though.

I used to do that with an old Lunchbox. I only did it a few times as I though it may have been a bit hard on the motor because of the big wheels. I had a Dynatech (for a short time) with the 18t set up it would wheelie and was extremely quick[}:)]
