I know there have been a few topics on this already, but I can't find all the info I need.

Basically I need to replace my old ESC. - It must have no motor limit, must have brakes and preferably reverse (with a disable feature).

I have been looking at them for a while now, and I want to spend in the region of £80-120 ish. (or less if all the features are there).

I will be using the ESC for both stock and modified motors, and on and offroad cars (so I want one that I can easily swap between cars)

I obviously want to get an ESC that performs well, but I am uncertain of what various specifications mean and quite how important they are. (e.g. Braking frequency, voltage drop @10A, on-resistance etc.)

So Basically, what do I need to look outfor? and what is recommended by you guys/what do you use?

The best forw/rev esc is the super rooster!

it can handle up to 2 motors, infact it is largely

used in clods, txts, etc

but it works as well with 1 motor and has a rev disable

function

I totally agree with roby. This is the best reversing sppedo i have ever used and cant praise it enough. I know of no other reversing control that stays that cool with so much power. You really get what you pay for with this one.

Not sure about the Super Rooster but I have the Rooster ( goes to about 12 turns I think ) it has all the features you mention and I use it in on/off road and swap it about. I am using it now with a 14 double motor in my Terra Conqueror and it's great.

I've had it in pieces to clean all the sand out about 3 times and it just goes on and on.

[:D]probably break down now I've said all that!!!...[:D]

The Rooster is only £50 so if 12 turns is OK it could save a lot of money. But I'm not really up on the Super Rooster spec. so it might be much better for you.

I've got the Rooster too and was going to buy the Super Rooster myself until funding this hobby became an issue[:(]. The Rooster is brilliant for the price but if you can afford the Super Rooster then it's well worth it for the extra benefits you get. By the way Bibbo, the rooster has a 15 turn limit so be careful not to blow it up.[:0]

Better be careful!!.. I was told when I bought it that it had a 14 limit but that it would run a 12 OK. I did'nt find a turn limit written anywhere when I bought mine, only the amps etc., so I was'nt sure. I have been running a 14 double on it for a while and it seems fine, gets a bit warm but I think it's normal.

I was thinking of getting a Super Rooster too but they are much more expensive. Is it just the higher motor limit that is better?

Super Rooster all the way.

They are so versatile.

and are virtually bulletproof

also worth considering if you want to run 12 cells is the EVX also from Novak ( comes with the E-Maxx)

Well thanks guys for your views, I was already leaning towards the super-rooster, but I'm interested in what else is out there,

What about the LRP F1 Pro Reverse?

Have heard good stuff about it, even though I still stick with orange.

Willy,

I haven't heard much about this, do you know if the breaks are any good, because the cheap LRP Runner ESC I have has really pants breaks, and seems to only have one speed in reverse (full power) which is just a tad annoying.
