It was all going great.

Finally got my Savage all modified (lazy start and reverse box)

Ran the engine in as per instructions, took ages.

Started to paint the new body I bought for it.

First coat was drying, so I thought, seeing as it's all run in, fill her up and blat about.

Apologies for the amount of pictures, but it's quite entertaining[8D]

Pictures were taken with a Nikon 5700, car was driven by an easily distracted moron[:I]

Yep, it did clear the speedbump, but landed kinda funny[B)]

So, engine is knackered (really really really knackered) plate for mounting it to the chassis is bent, brake disc has tooth marks in it and top shaft into gearbox is bent.

Including dinner, the truck has only been out of the box for 9 hours!

Mind you, it did change into second just before the ramp, that's probably what caused the problem, I reckon.

I think most of the damage wouldn't have occurred if the new shell (or any shell for that matter) was on.

Looks a bit of a mess Andy, i've seen one worse though.

It was running in a 1/8 circuit car out in the street went under a car complete with engine came out the other side with only half a crankcase, the piston/liner and cylinder head were now an ornament on the rear axle of the car.

My sincear condolances with this hard-core lose ;)

ok, my crash story... ( the most distructive anyway ) ..

in short..

ever seen a kyosho sand blaster on fire ?

think about this..

70cc of nitro

1 10cm to-long fuel line

the 2e ..

a little park flyer,

old rubber band holding wing..

rubber band snaps

wing & body goes there separate ways in life

full speed - head first landing ..

had to pull the plane out of the field with the tail

Still one for the album though [8D]

The first five or six went fine, but I think the ramp was moving everytime I hit it.

This last one was a 'bravery overdose' job, the one before landed a fair distance away, and on the run back, it hit second.

So the killer got a longer run up, on a wonky ramp.

The front end dipped in the air, but the truck was also spinning - bit like a stall in an aircraft, but going up[xx(]

Anyway, the landing was slap on the driveway, backwards and upside down.

Never touched the dirty great rollbar, the engine and rear body mounts took the full impact.

Still haven't found the missing chunk of cooling fin though.

Hi Andy,

this is the second damage of this kind on that brand of truck I've seen. Looks like a general problem, looks like a hostile position for the engine.

I think, with the combination of a moron, a ramp, concrete and gravity, there is no good place for an engine[;)]

Anyway, been looking into it and a OS RG-X seems the favourite replacement - anyone heard anything bad about them?

I was going to post the link for some peoples experiences with the Picco .26's..... But I see you've changed your mind!

Here's the link anyway http://ofna.com/

Go to the message board/ Engines...

BTW, Folk stopped using OS stuff a while back as spares were unobtainable.

Cheers Steve, I did try to get a .26, but after 5 shops all out of stock and expecting them 'in the next couple of weeks' plummed for the OS.

Scanned a couple of Savage forums, and it seems to be second favourite.

HI Andy,

Where did you find those body mounted roll bars - reckon I'm going to get me some for my Mad Force after reading this thread. If they are coming from the states perhaps we could order a couple and split the postage?

Let me know

Cheers

Finally managed to get a Picco! any idea if the hot bodies roto start is going to work with it?

Hi Andy,

Not being that clued up with the lecky start systems (they're for girls [;)]), but i'm 99.9% sure i've read somewhere that it works fine with the Picco .26 power plant. I think there was a hex adapter or summert specifically designed for the Roto Start to work with that engine.

I'm too **** old for yanking a rope[xx(]

I had one for the ill-fated .21, and it's a lot easier - after 1/2 hour of trying to start the engine on my quad, it felt like a fat bird large boned female individual had been stomping across me chest in stillettos (experience[;)])
