just wondering what the average speed for electric car??

i have a nismo which is fully ball raced, standard 540 motor, msc and a 1000mah battery.. and dosent seam to be as fast as what other people say!!

sometime soon im getting a new 1700 battery, esc(futaba 18 turn limit), a peak performance motor and a front sponge bumper..

will this make the car go faster??

could you please tell me how i can make my car go really fast.

thanks

standard 540's are not known for their blazing speed. If you want more speed you will need a faster motor. The problem is that your MSC won't be able to take the load of a hotter motor. You would need to upgrade that to a quality ESC. Speed costs money

Is that a TL01?

Don't forget on a TL01 you can gear it up to the max (20t? 21t?) *then* bolt in the SpeedTuned gearset for even higher gearing.

At that high gearing don't use any mod motors (it'll fry), but your stock-standard 540 will love it! A stock 540 geared to the sky will give an amazing top speed... just takes a little while to get there. But once its flying, you'll even give mods & stockers a scare.

TA01/02 can use the "Skyline Speed Tuned gearset" OPtion part. This may or may not be still available at your LHS, depending on how much older bits they may still have.

no standard 540 is ever that fast!! what you want is a nice 9turn modified motor and some 3300mah batteries, and a top end speedo to handle the power. now your ready for some serious speed!!!!!

i have heard of some sort of skyline gearing for the ta01 and 02..

where can i get some..and are they for speed..or more on the handiling side??

In my HPI pro 2 I have a Novak cyclone TC esc. I have run down to a 7 turn motor with it with a 2400 NiCd pack. The car was blazingly fast. Something more sensible for your ta-02 would be a 13-15 turn motor. ESC manufacturers clearly state how many turns and esc will handle. Your best bet is to go by a hobby shop and look at the different esc's, read the packaging and buy the most expensive one you can afford. A good esc will travel from car to car with you.

i also got a grasshopper with a 540 motor in it..

how can i push this car to its limit??

Grasshopper has a 380 in the kitbox.

Putting a 540 in it *is* about the limit. [:)]

If you can manage to control the thing with a 540; heck, here's

a real challenge for you - just try driving it in a straight line. [}:)]

Until you can do that... you don't need anything bigger.

Hey Nismospeed, you want some real speed??? I had a Peak 6-Turn motor, Novak Cyclone ESC, and some 3000's(in Yokomo YR4M2-Pro). My car ate some nitros for breakfast. The only sucky thing though is that I had to change brushes every 5 runs! So I went Brushless! I have it in a new TB Evo II powered by a Hacker Master Competition Controller/Lehner Basic 5300 motor. I added 1/8 scale wheels and lowered the suspension. It still eats some nitros(with 2 speed tranny) for breakfast [;)]..

Just thought i should mention the disaster i had when trying to gain max speed from a TL-01. It has full BB's, speed tuned gears, no limit esc, carbon propshaft and a 14 double motor with a 21T pinion and a 2400 battery. It took a while to wind up but when it did it was lightnin'(almost too fast!!). After running 2 2400 packs through it, came to use it again a couple days later and the whole drive train was locked solid[?] Long story short..the motor got so hot the varnish on the armature melted and glued the motor up[:I][:(]

However a nice and cheap addition to the grasshoper that will make it fly is a 9.99 Ballbearing kit, and I would also recomend using the Tamiya Opel Ascona "Michelin" tires (see shodog showroom), these offer much more grip (well sort of grip) on reasonably flat surfaces. Do not also forget to check that your grasshoper comes with the hornet suspension ugrade and that the axle springs are present otherwise this car will be bumping all over the place.

One of the few unbeatable advantage of the grasshopper is its low friction gear setup that makes it a really fast machine as long as you can drive it of course. With the above mentioned setup the car was almost as fast as my avante on the parking of my favourite supermarket...

For the tires I remember Jim Sourbeck had a lot of thesen and a pair did cost me $14 shipped. This was last winter.

thanks for the replies...:)

i needed a good set up..cause ive recently found out there is a club near where i live...(launceston,tasmania)

they hold races at a local car park in town..

i think i might go for a 16 turn motor, with an esc and 2400mah battery for now!!!

what would be a good gear ratio??

thanks[:P]

These tyres are probably getting old & hard... there's lots of

better rubber out there. [:)]

Have also tried everything from Frog tyres, SScorcher paddles,

RRider blockies, Marui knobblies, Hotshot ovals & pinspikes.

On road or off, they all haven't got enough grip to tame the

rearend with *any* 540... [;)]

If you can find a way of putting 2.2" wheels on your rear then

for rough ground, fit a pair of modern glove-soft buggy minipins.

For road use, you can either try find some Proline Roadhawgs to

fit 2.2 or 2.0" wheels, whatever you can fit onto the axles.

With a 540 and the standard sky-high gearing (18t pinion, unchangeable),

the Hornet/GH really does FLY.

Just the *landings* ae a bit problematic. [:0][:0]
