Hi,

My Baja champ has Hitec radio gear installed, all was fine for a couple of months then the steering servo developed a severe jitter. On closer inspection and testing at the model shop it seemed to be the transmitter at fault. The new transmitter has been fine, up till recently, and the jitter is back [:(]. I was running the buggy on its own, the batteries are fine, has anyone else had similar problems? [8)]

Or suggest any remedies.

Many thanks

Dave

Will do. It seems strange that its only the steering that is affected, when I swaped plugs on the receiver (when the problem first happened) the speed controller servo got the jitters..

I was having some problems with radio the other day, the car would run fine then for no apparent reason it would act is if I was switching the transmitter on and off in quick succession.

The car in question is a Kyosho (Sorry) Landmax 21 engined beast, having it shut down with the throttle wide open isn't funny.

I found the problem but it was hard to spot, the crystal in the receiver was coming loose and jumping around in the socket.

With regards to your specific problem I would say try a different crystal first, preferably made by Hi Tec. If this doesn't cure it I would change the receiver as this seems to be the problem.

If your any good with a soldering Iron it may be worth taking the receiver apart and checking for dry joints. This will most likely be the cause of the jittering on one channel only.

If the receiver is still under warranty get it changed where you bought it.

Hope it helps

Hi,

I tried swaping crystals, this didn't work. So I swaped the transmitter for an Acoms 1 I have, and it works fine! Problem solved, although it seems a bit strange that I had 2 fault transmitters in row, there may have been a dodgey batch, I did get them from the same shop within about 6 weeks of each other.

The warranty may still be in date but I don't know where the receipt is [V]!

Thanks for all the suggestions/help.

Cheers

That's great news,

just out of interest, have you tried the dodgy transmitters with a DIFFERENT receiver, sometimes they just don't like each other, but this is pretty rare.

Generally speaking, local hobby shops are pretty good when it comes to this kind of thing. even if you can't find a receipt its worth going in and asking what they can do. Even if they send it back for repair.

I tried using the transmitter with my Acoms radio gear, still jitters, so the transmitter is to blame (I had also changed batteries and crystal)...

I think I'll avoid Hitec from now on!

Cheers for everyones help!
