my old 10turn motor has had it now, the com has chips all around it, and the motor does not work now. so im thinking of getting a new Reedy KR Krypton 8x1 motor. Do you guys have any information on it??

my last motor was 10tx3, and this is 8tx1, what does the 1 mean?

Also i would like to know the approx rpm, the 10t was 40,055rpm.

thanks

If your existing motor is of a good quality you can fit a new commutator of pretty much any wind.

I'm guessing that your pretty serious about power output so I would recommend a new motor as the magnets 'go off' when this happens the motor puts out less power.

The 8x1 means a winding of 8 turns with 1 wire an 8x2 (Double) means 8 turns of 2 wires and so on.

As far as I'm aware the lower the number of wires (x1) means the motor will spin up quicker.

Don't take this as gospel though.

I think for the price of the KR motor it will be super quick, just make sure your speedo can handle it....

Hot mod motors 10t and below require constant maintenance.

Its not just a simple case of bolting in free horsepower.

To run a 8t properly to get your 40,000+ rpm you'd be

looking at using some harsh abrasive silver brushes

and very strong springs.... all of which chew up the comm

and performance then goes downhill - very very Fast!

The guys I know who run these would rebuild the motor

minimum every 2-3 runs (true the comm, new brushes etc).

If you don't know what you're doing with a hot mod, you

probably won't see the true speed/power of it anyway.

Might as well just get a milder mod motor, the performance

would be the same as an un-maintained hot mod.

If you don't have access to a comm lathe, try a LHS who should

have the equipment to shave your comm for you. Unless its very

badly burnt/chewed, comms can be cut back to shiny roundness

for a bit more working life.

Brushes should also be bright coppery gold. If they're are in

anyway blue or dark grey, they've been overheated before.

Toasted brushes do not conduct power as well as coppery ones.

Change them immediately & check your car is not overgeared.
