Any tips or tricks on how to pull Deans Ultra Plugs apart?

If I was to only replace the plugs in one spot, Battery to ESC or ESC to Motor, with Ultra plugs. Which spot is best?

The battery would be the best place to use the plug. you should try to hard wire the motor to the speed control. Do you change your motors that often?

If you put a small cable tie around the male half of the Deans plug, so it passes between the pins on one side and the wires at the other, keeping the end of it out of the way of the pins, when you push the Deans together there will be a thin gap between the plug and socket. This makes it a lot easier to get them apart afterwards.

The other trick is to leave the Deans plugged in to for ages, this flattens the spring, making removal a bit easier. Takes a while though!

For competition I awlays hard wire my motors and use Deans for the battery to ESC connection. This isn't really necessary for the odd 'runner', but I detest those bullet connectors on the motor wires, if you use anything other than the kit 540 they soon break down and overheat.

Thanks for the cable tie tip!

So for the ESC connection to the motor, I should just solder the ESC wires to the wires from the motor? I use Futaba MC230cr ESC.

yes just solder the wires from the speedo direct to the motor.

if they are too short, solder in another length of wire then either heatshrink or electrical tape on the join.

You'll be good to go.

Does anyone know of a good place (cheap [;)] ) to get these Deans Ultra plugs? And would these be the same thing?

Yes, they are "compatible" items.

Original Deans are red.

All LHS I've been to usually keep them under the counter

on a large roll, that's how they come packaged.

They are sold packed in a M/F pair or 4x Females.
