Hey Roby,

when do you change these awful Bruiser rims and G-Hawgs [:I], well I love them on a Bruiser/Mountaineer, but on a Jeep ????

Excuse me pal, but I am a harcore Willy's MB 4x4 / Ford GPW fan, so I only like the military pattern tyres on it!

It's just grudge Roby [}:)], since I neither have a real Willy's (what is very hard for me [:(]), nor the 21st Century Toys Jeep [V].

But apart from that, very nice, boy!

Hi Martin,

these wheels will be painted green, or I will try to put the wheels she came with into bruiser ones.

I know they are not so good but they are the ones that fit the hub without adaptors.

About tires I thought they were the best looking for a Jeep.

It would be better a narrowed one do you have suggestion ?

cheers

Hey Roby,

which diameter have the Jeep tyres? It is very difficult to find any substitute in size, and much more difficult (if not impossible) in size and form. 1:14 truck tyres are too small and 1:8 truck tyres are far too large. I guess there will have to be found something in 120 mm diameter and 25.4 mm wide.

Are the Jeep rims separated from the tyres? Which material are the tyres made of?

After seeing Roby's Jeep this morning, I measured the wheels and tires of a Tamiya 1/35 Jeep and compared them to the wheels and tires of the Mammoth Dump truck. Yes, I know, it's not very precise to measure on a small model and multiply, but it was the only military Jeep model I had available! Calculated from the 1/35 model, 1/6 Jeep wheels and tires should have the following dimensions:

Width: 29mm

Diameter wheel: 76mm

Diameter tire: 120mm

Mammoth dimensions are as follows:

Width: 58.5mm (2xJeep width! and I thought the Mammoth tires looked narrow!)

Diameter wheel: 74

Diameter tire: 153mm

I can't think of any currently available RC tires and wheels that would come closer, and still have the needed 0 offset (almost!). OK, so the Mammoth tire pattern is a little shallow, and the wheels don't have the correct hub, but they look rather authentic for a military Jeep, or so I think. [:I]

I don't have the 21st Century Toys Jeep, but I have the same company's Schwimmwagen, and though the original tires are a little hard, I used them for my RC conversion. The inside of the 21st Schwimmwagen wheels are flat, so I cut a hole the diameter of a 1/10 touring wheel, or Hummer actually, as their are no holes in them (good for an amphibious vehicle), and glued the Hummer wheels inside the Schwimmwagen wheels. First I grinded off enough of the outside of the Hummer wheels to make them fit flush with the inside of the Schwimm wheels. I don't know if something similar would be possible with the 21st Jeep as I haven't seen the inside of its wheels, but if the tires are acceptably soft, it could be a solution for a more authentic look. But, by all means Roby, your Jeep looks great as is!

The other Jeep on RCRock is of a friend of mine. He lives in the nearby and he's the one who made me love that toy!

He tried mammoth tires on his Jeep, he has Jug axales under it, but they are too big and not looking good.

Original 21st tires are hard rubber that break easily.

I could call it plastic-rubber tires.

They have a collar inside to keep them harder and their diameter is same as the one I mounted.

The only problem now is that body has got a lift,so these tires look a little bit smaller than they are, expecially up front.

cheers

That body looks excellent and I dont think the wheels wil look at all out of place if they are painted green. I really think you need to get the body a lot lower on the chassis though. That's the only thing that would spoil it for me.
