Hey guys and gals,

Im looking to convert my TB01 rally evo VII into a TB01 touring car with a Nissan Silvia S-15 shell! Could anyone help me on how to go about the conversion and what parts if any i need to do so!

Cheers

Your best bet is to have a browse through a TB01 touring manual

Here's a 'rally' manual;

Here's a touring car

I think the only differences on my Raybrig (compared to my rally cars) were spacers inside the shocks to lower the ride height (page 12, step 23), and slick tires.

Also check things like the shock mountings - on the rally ones they use a screw-on mount for the gearbox whereas I think the tourers screw straight to the gearbox.

(see page 14 in both manuals for pics)

Onroad cars have the plastic diff gears and the aluminium centre shaft. These 3 items alone will shave 140g off your car!! [8D]

You can buy them as option parts.

Onroaders also lose all the sponge sealing pieces and the chassis cover. Onroaders also get a higher gear ratio (bigger pinion).

For serious onroading, might be an idea to get universal driveshafts.

Ditto the long-arm suspension set and the carbon chassis set.

thanks for all your help guys! Gonna go remove the spacers from my sus see if that makes a diff in the height! I ordered a nissan silvia S150 bodyshell the other day so il paint that up when i can and get some rims and tyres on the order list!

Cheers again

You should put on the bolt-on shock towers to lower it further;

those bits are 'unused' on the rally kits but you do get them.

Set the car for about 5mm clearance on slick tyres; put spacers

on the shock shaft inside the shocks to shorten them.

PS. We'll have to bring cones to the next meet so we can have a proper race.

Hey, Siv429 you might want to invest in the hop-up steering kit for the TB01 chassis. I found the excessive wear that occurs in the plastic kit steering made high speed driving 'fun', the aluminium kit makes the steering much more precise.
