Hi all,[:)]

As you know, the gear of a 0.8mm module is used for the old off-road car of TAMIYA also for you.

It is rare to see a genuine TAMIYA's 0.8mm module gear in the shop now.

I found the gear of 32P module on the Internet.

Since they are not sold at Japan, I don't know about 32P module. I need somebody's help.[:(]

But, as a result of unit conversion, I think that 32P module is one equal to 0.8mm module maybe.

Is actually diverting them possible? would you let me know truth.[?]

Welcome to the forums! Enjoy your visit.

Sadly these are not compatible. While they may be 'close' they are not the same. For example, Tamiya .6 metric (like commonly called AV gears) while so very very close to 48P they are not the same and will not work together.

What exactly are you trying to find a pinion for? I am sure somebody here would have some guidance to offer.

Cheers!

Hi Twmaster,[:)]

Thanks for your reply.

I'm looking for 0.8mm module 18T pinion gear mainly used with SAND LOVER, SUBARU BRAT, GRASS HOPPER or HORNET, etc.

I think we have same trouble about their pinion gear.

TAMIYA's standard pinion gears very easy to wear down. there is no border at this fact.

In order for us to make Vintage Tamiya run freely, some epoch-making solution is wanted.

In the first, I hope replacement pinion gear is more "Tough" than standard one. Otherwise, we always have to continue looking for stock.

Ummm....[8)]

Most after market accessory manufacturers make a range of gears and hardened steel pinions. These pinions should be available to fit just about anything, metric, imperial or whatever. Buy the correct one and it will last for years of hard use.

Sadly the Tamiya aluminium ones that come with some kits do wear out rather quickly!

Hi GPZ1000RX,[:)]

Now, I tried unit conversion.

1/32" is about 0.794mm

It seems this Number has suggested a possibility of being compatible.

Their difference looks not so big than we think about it.

I will try 32P steel pinion for my old 0.8mm module spur gears anyhow, and report the result.

( But, I have to import 32P pinion gear first of all. )

I sould have a unused/authentic 0.8mm 18T "Tamiya 50192 Subaru Brat 540 Pinion Gear Set" I could consider parting with. It's the dark and light aluminium alloy kind so perpahs better for restoration than heavy runners..

I use brass replicas in my runners; they are heavier but don't wear as quick - let me know if you need custom brass pinions, I can have them machined to spec with very high tolerance.

Hi 540SS, thanks to your kindness.[:)]

But, now my necessity isn't urgent so much.

A mail came from my Japanese friend living in U.S. on the other day.

He guaranteed compatibility about the 1/32 inch module and the 0.8mm module.

This time, I will buy Robinson's pinion gear and test it.

But, 4 dollars-it need the cost of 12 dollars by the Air...[B)]

So still I am waiting to buy it for another needed articles.
