Tis more to do with the rubber drying out, I have found old gas masks in lofts before with perished rubber. Try giving them a light vasaline or even baby oil every now and then.[:P]

Vaseline on tyres is a no-no! Petroleum products attack rubber.

The best way to preserve the tyres is with glycerine, or with a good tyre-preservation product (not armor-all).

Do a search in the archives.

From my air-soft guns, I was told to use silicone spray to keep the rubber seal soft thus maintianing the air presure and hurt the bad guys in a war game. I spray the switch cover, shock boots and tire with silicone spray and seems to keep the rubber form drying out. Mind you I am in Hong Kong is hot and humind here unlike Europe or Canada where cold and dry which is not rubber friendly.[V]
