I have been using quickfire 16% nitro fuel for my car for a while now, but another hobby store near me said that i should stop using it. Instead, i bought some of the Tornado racing fuel. I tried it to see if it made any difference, and boy did it! Ive mangaed to lean it up about a quarter of a turn more now, and it flies! So any of you using quickfire, i suggest you change to tornado, or another fuel (i thought they mentioned orion or something like that) you will see the difference! I also found it to be 50p cheaper for a litre! [:)]

What percentage is the Tornado fuel that you've changed to? I thought once you had used one mix of fuel you would have to stick with it.. The reason I ask is Ive just brought some 20% Tornado for our Savage, as recommended by HPI but run the others on 16% Duraglow.

well, my tornado fuel is 10% NM, which is nitro methane. I just realized that the tornado fuel might not do wonders for all engines as it did for mine, so id ask someone at your lhs if it should be ok for your engine.

Ive always been advised to run my cars on 10% as apparently the higher the nitro percentage the quicker your engine will wear.

How much truth there is in that I dont know but my cars are quick enough running on 10% so Im happy enough [:D]

petrolhead,what engine are you running?

it could be the other hobby store is trying to get your custom away from the hobby store were you buy the quickfire? (had a simular thing happen to me a couple of years back?)

Quickfire has a lot of additives in it to make it easy to start in pull-start engines. This could be part of the reason it performs less well than the Tornado, even though the Tornado has a lower nitro content. Qwikfire isn't a "race" fuel.

i guess the fuel in question is the model technics glow fuel qwikfire 10% pullstart? rather tham the model technics glow fuel qwikspeed 10?

or even the model technics glow fuel duraglo 10%? what about the model technics glow fuel dynaglo 10%? so meny of em at 10%!

im using a kyosho gx.15 engine. I dont think the hobby store was trying to get my custom, because they said that i could get it from any good retailer, and they have it in stock now and again.

It is called tornado model engine fuel-the better one.

The previous one that wasnt as good is model technics quickfire 16% nitro.

I use Byron Race Formula which is 16% and I've not had any problems with it, engine starts no problem!!

If you want really fast speeds try some of the Big Bang 30% nitro!!

It's expensive but your car will fly but will be worn out much quicker!

Whilst the posts here comare Nitro content, dont forget to check what percentage is OIL !! That effects how long you engine will last. For example I beleive Duraglo has nearly twice as much oil as Dynaglo, so Duraglo 10% will give better protection than Dynaglo 10%.

Up until a few years back most of these other makes of fuel were not available like they are now (in UK) and Traxxas for example reccommended Duraglo as being the only Model Techniques fuel with enough oil for their engines - if you used Dynaglo you could forget your warranty ! Check the paperwork with your engine to see how much oil that manufacturer states is required - it varies form one manufacurer to another.
