Hi ive got a speed demon 15t double and i dont know alot about this motor but thought i would give it a try in bush devil as this is the truck which gets all the abuse[;)]. Its fully ballraced, nosram 10t esc, 3000nimh pack and the acceleration is very poor but the top end speed is insane. Is it got anything to do with the pinion gear = more teeth more acceleration , less teeth more top speed. I dont want to strip the devils gearbox if the motors to hot for it. After one run nothings over heating at all. It is a very quite which is nice.

Anybody got any thoughts on this[?]

Cheers all

Ryan.

Pinions work the other way around.

Smaller pinion gives more acceleration/less top speed

Bigger pinion gives more top speed/less acceleration.

Basically the pinion is tto big.

Thanks, anytime.

I don't think you can get a smaller pinion. The standard one is only 10 tooth and with a very long boss.

forgive me if i'm wrong[;)] but...

the bushdevel runs on tamiyas standard 2.2 rims - correct[?]

if so you might be able to fit midnight pumpkin/lunchbox size tyres, which when stretched onto the 2.2 rims gives a lower profile.

smaller tyre diametre = better accleration [:D]

A 15turn is not really torquey enough for the Bush Devil. I am not aware of any way of adjusting the gearing on these trucks as the BD has a single fixed motor mounting position with no adjustment. I got better acceleration out of my Bush Devil by fitting Wild Willy2 wheels fitted with smaller diameter tyres than the stock BD ones. (See my showroom for some pictures) The smaller diameter wheels/tyres also make it handle far better at speed.

The lowest turn motor I found to work well was a Reedy 19t. I did try a 17t but it burnt out in no time. The truck now runs with 8.4v and a Kyosho meyhem motor 22t which gives stunning acceleration (enough to pop wheelies very easily) and nice long run times of 20+ mins from a 2000NiCD.

This movie also shows what sort of acceleration you should be getting:[;)]

well i run a 12 triple in my king blackfoot and the acceleration and top speed is insane. im quite happy with the power to pop wheelies at any speed. =)
