Something is wrong with my car now. I went from the 20 tooth pinion to the 21. Not a big jump, just wanted a little more top end. Got a new charger, Eagle racing 16X5 v. 2 so Nicads and Nimh's will love me. My batteries would go like stink for the first 2 laps, I'd pass like 3 to 4 people then dumped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never had this problem before with the cells. I've used them in my ta04 and hpi sprint and nothing at all ever happened. I'm doing a full discharge and will let them cool down over night and put about %60 back in them. Plus the motor was so hot, it melted the solder from the positive esc. What did I do? I'm running the middle spur 58t with the 21 pinion and my ratio will only be 7.18 and it is in the right hole. The alloy motor mount, front and rear sway bars, and the under ssg bits are in the mail so those are gonna help me out some. Well at least the motor mount will. My wire came off at the last race. I pulled out the first 2 races with 4 laps and I let my car run the entire 5 minutes for the last. When I first got car, I was running the 55t spur with the 25 pinion which is only 5.72. That was a hot motor and very fast but slow at the start. I hope I haven't hurt my esc or motor but I might have. Batteries are gonna hate me. HELP ME GUYS!!!!!!![:(!]

Assuming there's nothing wrong with your car (jammed transmission etc)

and you've bolted the motor in using the right holes (making sure you

use the correct-diagonal *pair* of holes on the motor)...

Could be a motor maintenance problem.

Check your brushes... are they BLUE?

If so, they've overheated - get new ones.

Blue'd brushes don't conduct well.

Is your comm in good nick? Get it trued if not.

Before replacing the brushes... clean the Insides of brush holders.

Use a cotton bud soaked with motor spray, scrub them shiny.

The brush holders do MOST of the current conducting, the

little pigtails on the brushes don't do more than 5A.

Has your brush springs softened due to the heat?

If so... they may not have enough tension to keep the brushes

on the comm, when the brushes bounce they arc & cause heat.

Retension or replace.

Well I just skimmed the comm so that shouldn't be the problem at all. The springs are the original ones made for the pro motor. I'll have to look at the brushs tonite after work. Thanks for the help WC hehe.

I had that problem too with my 10x4 motor. I rewired my setup with 2.5² wires directly soldered from ESC to motor and ESC to battery with gold plugs. Never had the problem again. Seems my motor drew too much current for the standard wiring.

I got a TB01 with 19X3 motor and esc down to 15 turn. I also use a 24 pinion and 55 counter gear and and that only just gets warm. A 2400 battery lasts about 7-8 mins.

Hi guys, I too had soldered connections melt on me when running an 11x3 in my t'shot. I too found that using high quality motor cable and solid brass 'solder on' bullet connecters plus a motor heatsink that most problems went away. I also dropped a pinion size, even 1 tooth variance makes a huge difference.

since i'm only running a 19 turn and not a very hot motor I have come to the conclusion that I have not read my charger instructions yet and my charging the batteries is the cause of the error. I'm cycling them twice as I type. I also dropped down to a 19 tooth pinion in the "A" holes on the motor mount hehe. I hope I don't get in trouble for saying that.[;)] Anyway, and that gives me a 7.94. Now that will be quick in the turns and such but kills the top end right? How should I gear it for Snetterton? 25t pinion and 55T spur?

Well the alloy motor mount really helps in keeping the car cool under fire. If you don't have one, get one!!! I got the waste of space ssg center brace now. What does that do??? Add more weight to the heavy tank chassis?
