hi all,

i have had my TT-01 standard motor for a while now and i have desided to get a new motor. i have been reading around on the forum and have seen that 10 and 15 turn motors are good. could any1 please give me the name/brand of some good motors i might be able to find on ebay.

thank you gonze

A 10 turn motor is very fast, needs a lot of maintenance, needs expensive upgraded electronics, and won't last long on your batteries. I wouldn't go for one of those as the next step up from the kit motor.

19 turn "Spec" motors - from Reedy, Orion, Peak, Trinity, Fantom etc. are an excellent combination of speed and runtimes. You will probably need to upgrade your speed controller, but you won't need to spend more than £50 on one.

Make sure your car is ballraced before fitting a faster motor - otherwise you'll just be wasting the new power.

hi gonze an welcome to tamiyaclub

I have a TT01 with a 14x3 orbital pro bb motor an futaba esc (mrc330) i run a 21 pinion and standard spur (61) full ball raced and will say its not for the faint hearted or new comer. this car flys along a great pace im known around as the nutter that races full sized 1:1 around the roundabout on my street.as sosidge says they do requrie a lot of care and maintenance and are insanely fast for beginers an seasoned pro's alike. oh and my run time from a 1500 battery is about 8mins flat out bashing/1:1 racing

i have got a electronic speed controller that came with my car. so if i put a 19 turn motor in and lower my pinion gear. and my car is already ball raced. is 8minute runs all i am looking at getting. at the moment with my 2000mAh battery i am getting times of around 20 -25 minutes. Also just as an estimate how much faster will an uprated motor make my car go. also for a 19 turn motor what does that change into like "12 X 3" was just looking on ebay and all the motors are done like that

thank you gonze

What model is the speed controller?

A 19 turn spec motor is a 19x1 - a 12x3 is a faster motor.

Speed? At least 50% faster than the kit motor (it'll feel like twice the speed!)

gonze will give u some info on different things ok

1 pinion: the larger the pinion the faster the car so a 21 tooth will make car faster than a 19 tooth now th go even faster u can change the spur gear (the large one the pinion meshes with) u have a standard 61 tooth spur gear suplied with the kit but u can get a 56/58 tooth this will make it even faster. u have to think of the gears on a push bike large one on pedals and small one on wheel makes bike quicker but its harder to pedal same as a rc car so to gain more speed u have too loose some acceleration

2 bearings : these make the rolling propperties on the car better then the plastic ones u are supplied with an helps speed to

3 motors: a 19 turn motor draws less power than a 14 turn motor so u wont loose much bashing time i would say about 10/15 mins. if u are a new comer i would say DONT go no lower than a 19 this will be enough speed and power for u untill u have mastered the control then u can go for it,

4 hopups EG: oil shocks (better handling) tie rod adjusters, aluminum propshaft, differential ball set, all this will make ur car into a racer for ur local club races

i only get 8mins because i have a hot(modifyed) motor and only a 1500 battery gonze as sosidge said it will seem a lot faster [:P]

and keep u happy for ages [;)] u already have a 19 tooth pinion with the motor supplyed so u have a choice of 20/21/22 pinion and 56/58 spurs as addons (hopups)

Get then the 23T Sport tuned from Tamiya as its the hottest motor your ESC can handle or a nice rebuildable 27T (use the search function for which of those are recommended)

I would go for a 27 turn rebuildable.

Trinity Monster Stock or similar.

tons of power, and you can open them up to clean, and pretty cheap too
