Has anyone noticed or is it just me that there seems to be alot of excess play in rod ends which causes alot of free play in the steering.

When i drive my 415 slow in a straight line it wobbles from side to side, does anyone have the same problem or now how to cure it?.

If you have any info which you think you will help please let me know.[:D]

get yourself several of the red damper O-rings and slip them over the balljoint. they'll act as bushing to tighten up the slop and still soft enough to deform when the suspension compreses.

Stock Tamiya black ball cups do wear out after a while, you can shim them with some teflon tape (plumber's tape) to pad it out. But they are consumable items.

Alternately Tamiya also sell a "low friction" ball cup, they are a lighter grey colour. These last quite a bit longer before going sloppy. Worth trying if you can find them.

Same story for my trf 414, I first selected some heavy duty mrc replacements but noticed that they were adding friction. In the end I switched to the tamiya low friction rod ends: there is still "slop" but the suspension is smooth.

as far as the steering play is concerned, the most important source of play are the steering posts: I had to insert 2 0.2mm shims to compensate for the wear of the aluminium rings.
