I´m pretty sure it´s so[V] Wanted to top off the charge since i dont trust the charger filling it completly (gonna buy a new charger). FORGOT about the battery charging, and when i remembered it, the pack was almost to hot to handle. Stuck it in my Bush Devil after cooling and had a go. It lasted like 2minutes. Heard about NiMh beeing sensitive to overcharging, so i guess i have to buy a new pack one of these days. Or can it be saved somehow with some trickle charging or so[?]

You could try trickle charging, or discharging the pack on an equalising tray, but I think there is a good chance you have cooked one or more of the cells by overcharging.

I've got a 3000 pack which I didn't use for over a year and when I charged it and ran it, it lasted about 5 minutes. I thought it was knackered, but after charging and using it a few times it's back to normal...

You might be lucky...

Its quite common to have to cycle Nimh packs 3-4 times if they have been stood for a long time (1 month or more). I use a digital display discarger on mine, and can see the improvement as the more cycles they have.

Trickle Charging Nimhs cells is a big NO NO...You must also use them on a charger that can specifically charge Nihms.. No good using those that you use to charge NiCd's.

The charger im gonna get is supposed to handle both NiCd, NiMh and the new Lippo or Lipo or whatever they are called[:I] My old charger is suposed to handle NiMh according to a friend who is "supposed" to know. I´m not that sure myself. Thanks everyone for your posts.

Too hot to handle is 70deg +, your battery probably didn't get that hot. I've just looked at some battery spec sheets and many can take 60deg and some 70!

You may be lucky, be gentle with it for a few cycles.

Get a good reliable charger.

Don't do it again!!!!!!!!!

Properly charging NiMh is still (somewhat) a premium feature. If it could do it, NiMh would be proudly printed on the charger somewhere.

Technically, any charger charge an NiMh, even ones made 20 years ago. The trick (as you found out) is knowing when to stop charging. This is the premium feature.
