My LeMans 480T in my Bush Devil can be adjusted by turning the endbell to give 1000rpm more. From 12000 to 13000 i think. Will it be a noticeble increase in speed, and is there any drawback in doing so[?] Got to say that my MB with a standard 540 seems to be faster than the 480T. But i guess it could be a different gearing in the BD.

Weird, would think a 480T to be significantly faster then a 540 as even a Le Mans 600 was doing something like 15000RPM. Maybe your is worn? The more you turn the endbell the more the torque decreases, but its pretty ok as long as you stay in the region with the manufacturer marks.

I was a bit surprised too about the 480T performance. The way i use my BD, doesent need alot of torque compared to a little more speed. It sure could be a bit worn too. But i´ll turn within the markings, and see what results i get. Thanks DJTheo.

It is a bit funny with these trucks and hotter motors.

My old King cab was quicker with a standard 540 then with a brand new P2K2pro (and correct gearing)

The only differences were that it would no longer wheelie or hillclimb well and the battery life was halved.

The P2K2 also hasn't made much difference to my M-03 Mini (again with correct gearing).

I also remember that a new green machine 2 that I fitted to my Hummer years ago hardly amde any difference apart from eating batteries.

Are stock motors a dead loss? [:P]

Lordcroker seems to be right about these "hot" motors and trucks. The motor that came with the BD was a Kyosho Megamotor 14x2. Thought it would fly with it. It actually wasnt that fast at all. But the gearing was the same as now, so maybee it was all wrong for a 14x2. It almost burned up my 1400NiCd, that by the way only lasted for a couple of minutes. I´d say that a standard silvercan seems to be allright alot of times.

In all my experiences of stock motors, they provide a good speed increase. Not long ago I fitted a fairly old and not that good 27 stock to my Super Hornet and got quite a bit more speed out of it.

Stock motors, as opposed to kit motors, have loads of advance, 24deg or 36deg, they also have short stack armatures.

All of which tends to produce revs, heat and high current consumption.

If your use needs torque then it may not be the upgrade for you, especially if you can't lower your gearing to suit

I was wrong about the revs on the 480[:I] It has more like 20000-21000rpm when i checked it. I turned the endbell in the OPPOSITE direction of forward rotation as the manual said, to the 6th marking, which should produce the most rpm. Havent had the chance to try it yet. So much to do, so little time...
