Can anybody help was looking on e bay and came across a tamiya type r motor! How fast would this make it and would it need different gearing from the one supplied as stock ? Keep on racing!

hey marsy,

I'm not sure if a type r motor would make much of a difference. If you esc can handle a motor with less turns, I think a 17 turns motor would make a good upgrade for a tt-01, and the type r is 23 turns or so. I have a tt-01 with a 12 turns motor, which is really fast. Before that I had a 17t in it which amde quite a fast car of it. I don't know how experienced you ar with rc cars, but I think 17 turns is a good choice

If all you are used to is the stock silver can motor, then the type R will be noticably faster while still giving a decent runtime. Gearing depends on where you run it, you'd have to see hopw it goes when you have it. As for speed control, you would be ok using a mechanical speed control although not the standard Tamiya electronic one.
