If I wanted to put in an 8 turn motor, what is the least inexpensive car I can put it in? Formula F1 cars, or WRC cars? Or similar? Is there a limit that a street car can take motor wise?

hi mate, do you want on road or off road? I was running a Tamiya Super Modified 11turn on a TT01, no problems and great performance! Just a pointer, if you want to run anything like an 8 turn motor, you will need some serious upgrades, bearings, alloy propshafts, alloy drive shafts and most importantly a no limit ESC.

Just a bit of info, you may already know this but hey!

Good luck with it

If you want Tamiya then I would go for a TB-02 for on road as it should handle the motor without needing any upgrades, just fit your esc, radio and go. Offroad is a bit trickier as I think every current Tamiya one would need some upgrading to cope. The Dynastorm would handle it but I think this is more expensive and harder to get parts for. If it being a Tamiya is unimportant, I'd look into Associated and Losi cars, buggies and trucks as they are designed with racing in mind so could easily handle the power.

Speed crazy? Yes, at the moment I am. Tomorrow maybe something different. I already have my off road buggy, and my TLT crawler, so I figured, Whats next? Speed! and lots of it,....at an affordable price. TB-02 sounds familiar. I'll look into it. Must be 4WD and capable of holding the road.

I have a TB02 with a few hop-ups, and it's a very well made and nice handling car. Being a shaft car it can suffer a bit of torque steer with a hotter motor. Alternatively, the TA05 will be out soon and should be about the same price, if you prefer a belt driven chassis.

Cheapest one has got to be the Hornet. Just make sure you have a long run up and the batteries will last about 2 minutes. Probably melt the gearbox as well.

I have tried a 7 turn in a mini, batteries last a little over 3 minutes but worth it for the grin factor and the Tamiya Mini is nice n cheap.

[:0]I'd love to see the thick coating of rubber dust on the inside of the shell after that run. 3 minutes of tire screeching terror! lol

I got a BMW M3 (TT-01) for about £80 -you can get them on ebay for £50. Not inc radio (another £40 minimum). With a 15 turn motor it's dead fast (£20 ebay) and a better ESC (£20 ebay). I have spent hundreds on hop ups from Hong Kong, but I think you could get a very fast car in the TT-01 for £150. It's an amazing 4WD chassis - the best lower-end Tamiya yet in terms of building, working on and modifying. If you can, stretch to a £200 budget and put the ball bearings and aluminium prop shaft in too, cos the plastic bits are pretty awful.

Instead of hopping up a TT01 get a TB02, TA04 or TA05, it will be cheaper in the end and you will have a superior car.

But for fun bashing around TT01 and M03/04 are fine, just don't try to get them competitive, its a waste of money.

Cheers
