Ever fancied having a go at the Eurocup, but not ever got round to sorting out a car, or all the equipment fr racing. Well this could be the answer.

For the 2006 season i am offering a full set up for racing in the stock class (TT01) for hire on a race by race basis. This is mainly aimed at juniors (under 14's) to help get them into the sport, but other new drivers to the series are welcome. The deal will include race entry fee (£7) and use of a handout motor. Spec of the car is TT01, with Alloy prop, Speed tuned gear, Turnbuckle steering arms CVA Shocks and a NSX or F430 bodyshell. It will be equiped with Acoms 27Mhz radio, Tamiya TEU101 ESC, high speed digital servo, Intelltech 3800 cells that will be charged for you at the meetings.

The aim is to give people the taste of racing without the outlay of all the equipment before they know they like it, and with the Eurocup being such a well run, friendly series, you can't really fail to not enjoy yourself.

The provisional price for the hire is £45 per meeting, with saturday practice being an extra £5. However i will be looking into trying to lower that price by obtaining sponsorship from a modelshop that might like to benefit from the potential sales generated by this project. Remember that £45 is all you will need for the weekend, and that includes a full spares back up, so you wont be sidelined by mechanical problems.

A full list of race dates will be available in the next couple of months, so if you are interested, have any questions or want more info. Email mcreeder@btinternet.com

Price also includes tuition from myself (4th overall 2005 uK eurocup stock class), and help wth set up and build of your own car once you have decided to take the plunge.

The £45 covers the following.

1. use of car, with new IB3800 cells etc as posted above

2. use of Wheels and tyres that are in good condition with a suitable additive. (Radials with foam inserts, which is what i have used all year)

3. Spares to keep the car running correctly.

4. Entry fee to meeting.

5. use of handout motor.

6. Advice on driving technique if required.

I think it is a great idea to have a hire car, but can I make a couple of suggestions?

1) £45 is expensive

2) I don't think the hire car needs to be capable of winning races. All it needs to be is well-sorted, so I (personally) would have it set up with just the very basic upgrades for reliability, basic stick pack cells, and a standard servo. Then you could hire it out for a more reasonable price. The danger with a high-spec car is that the juniors that you try and get involved in the series will never actually be able to afford a car as good as the one they hired!

Just my opinion.

Remember the £45 includes the £7 entry fee and the £15 for the handout motor u would need. This means the car is £23 to hire for the day which includes wear to tyres and all breakages etc. The cells i am getting are not expensive. Digital servo is one i already have and is metal geared so will last longer. I have not allowed a cost for the use of this in the price.

£45 is also a maximum price and may yet fall, hence it is provisional. It is also a lot cheaper than £250-300 that you might need to spend to get a car to find out its not for you. I am not doing this to make money, i am doing it because i am trying to attract more junior racers to the series. Hopefully it will work. Thanks for your comments.

Maybe because the #1 guy isn't going to give up his time to help introduce new racers into the series. Please try and keep your comments constructive, thankyouplease.

hey mate, just wanted to say that i think this is a great idea and wish you all the best with it, wish i was 14 again!

Will you be racing several cars or just the one, so you can give 100% of your concentration to one driver.

Just thinking, it will be the best idea to start small and see how it takes off.

Youve probably got all angles covered, just giving my tuppence worth!

best of luck mate

At the moment i am looking at just the one car mainly due to number of radios, chargers etc i own. See how things go with the first one, and if that works i might be able to find more help to run further cars. I guess the real aim of posting this forum topic is to just create awareness, and help to spread the word. Thanks for your support.

I dont see why i shouldn't post about a scheme to encourage juniors into racing in the RC Racing talk forum, so i find that comment a little odd. As i posted earlier, i am not doing this to make money, i am part of the organising team for the series and i am trying to increase numbers of juniors. As for the cost of the hire, i am looking at trying to get the price down to as litle as £30 per meeting.

I also know Darren well, although he doesnt race Eurocup anymore, and yes most people are willing to give advice, as it is a very friendly series. Now get to the track and race or i will send the boys round, ALRIGHT!!!![:(!]

dude you got a good idea but 45 pounds is a bit execive. its have the price of my ta04 r tuned chassis kit with everything to make rtr.(i didnt put the cheapest stuff in it, orion core mod 7X3 motor, lrp indy/p esc, and metal gear, 3 pole coreless servo) and i think most people would say that version of ta04 is better than a tt-01 even if its hopped up. also in our community center some hobby store owners put out rc summer camp drop in at the ice skating rink. during the summer for only 5canadian per drop in, and first five get to use a rc if you not the first 5 you could bring in your own and practice and they could give you tips and set ups.

Yes i agree £45 is not cheap. But remember there is a set of wheels and tyres to throw at every meeting, sealed can motors have a limited life and then there is the entry fee added as well. £45 is not the cost of the car, its the cost of running it. If i was to run a TA04 for the weekend, i would be very pleased if it only cost me £45. However i am very confident the price will not be as high as £45 anyway.

ANYONE who has raced at these events competitively, will tell you that you will spend more than 50 quid for a days racing, + you need to have bought a car, batteries, charger, etc etc etc just to race.

So, I commend the idea, I also think that someone maybe setup to run GT1 would now be able to fit in another class.

Full size motor sport does this all the time, and believe me, it's a badword of a lot more than 45 pounds.

SO, if you like the idea, give it a try, if not go find something else to spend you money on.

Personally I think that someone who can spend 45P per race (just think of at least 8-10 races per season) can also afford to buy the car and stuff for that money (45P x 10). That's why in Germany for youngsters who can't afford that kind of money, the Fight Buggy cup exists since years which cheap stock cars which don't need new tires and motors every race, where with almost 100P you can run almost a whole year.

Nevertheless its a nice and noble project, keep us updated how it goes! [8D]

Cheers

i have to say its good idea but.... not many juniors can afford £45 for a days racing(try to convince your dad to spend £45 for a day and have nothing material to show for it) ..if you bring your own car and race at least you have something to show for it,im not sayings its a bad idea, having your own car means you can drive at home with it...you cant with a hire car hence why i think people may not take you up on it..great idea tho and keep plugging away with it.

The idea is not to have someone book all 8 meetings, but to have 8 different people book each meeting, then they can look at buying a car (possible with discount) once they have had a go and like it.

Yes the fighter buggy class is very cheap, but remember in germany they had 2½ thousand times the number of juniors racing compared to the uK last year (no i haven't made that figure up), plus there isn't a fighter buggy class available.

Also £45 is now a bit out dated. It is going to be more like £30 for the meeting.

I think this looks like a great idea. Good luck mate and well done.

I'm 26 not 14 and I'd pay if only for the advice.

This is a very expensive hobby. No two ways about it. £45 is about the same as you would spend doing any of the following:

Paintballing

Go Kart Racing

Clay Pigeon Shooting

And this sounds a million times more fun.

If its £30 now then thats a steal.

£45 for paintballing. All that gets you is fun and bruises.

Its normally not just the kid but their parents as well that get into the hobby.

It also shows that kids and their parents a fun hobby to get into.

I've shown my neice into racing and she's only 13. She got 3rd in the b final racing mardaves.

She's gonna race more often when she gets a chance.

Good luck with the introductery racing idea. Hope it works and brings in more racers.

£30 including saturday practice if required and i am also going to see about getting a picture of each new driver using the car in one of the national RC mags as an added extra.
