motors and pinions

hi guys. how does it work? does a cog with fewer teeth on it (attached to my motor) go faster than one with lots of cogs? physics was never my strong point. I'd appreciate any help on this one! thanks in advance. J

Fitting a gear with more teeth to the motor will result in a car with faster top speed. less teeth will make the car slower top end but accelerate to that speed quicker.
