What's the easiest way to widen a tb01 chassis?

I need about 5mm a side.

Are long arms and bones available, or would it be easier to use thicker hex spacers (but then making stock wheelnuts work would be a problem)

In the TB01 kit there are wider hexes (Mits VII) but do these require a different wheel?

You can buy a Wide-arm kit for the TB-01/TG-10 chassis in a similar vien to the TL-01 long-arm kit.

I'm not sure how much wider this makes the car but it should be 10mm overall because I guess it's meant for wider bodies.

No, you don't need different wheels. You just need the longer wheelaxles (50808 TG10 Long Wheel Axle)

The "53430 TB-01/TG10 Long Suspension Arm Set" actually makes the TB01/TG10 wider (close to 200mm I believe) whereas the "53467 TL-01 & FF02 Long-Span Suspension Arm Set" makes for exactly the same width as the normal TL01 suspension on the TL01 and FF02, just with wider arms and narrower uprights for improved handling.

Right - so the choices are;

53430 - Suspension set $/£60

or

50808 Long axle £/$ 7

Will they both make the wheels wider? as $/£60 doesn't really appeal to be honest!

All I wanna do is get a bit more width for a body I'm looking at.

If I go for the £7 option, does anyone have wider hexes - you'll never guess which bits I didn't bother keeping[:(!]

You can buy 2 sets of TL-01 toe-in rear uprights for approx. €10 for 2 i thought. The wheel hexes are included in this set.[;)]

Is this them?

Yes, and as Thesis points out, the probably cheapest way of getting the wider hex hubs is buying "53345 (TL01, M03) Toe-In Rear Upright", where 2 wide hubs are included.

Will Tamiya TG10 & TB01 Long Universal Shaft Set. OP-410/53410 offset the wheels in a standard TB01 set-up, or are they for the long arm set?

Where is the width measured on these cars[:(!]

I just fitted the suspension arm kit (cheers Jason) and can only get the width to 185mm from wheel to wheel.

According to the box, the Raybrig is 194mm wide[xx(]

I can get about another 6-8mm with the creative application of spacers, but the body shell I want to fit is for a 200mm car (but I don't know where the 200mm is!)

For prospective buyers of either the arm kit, or the driveshaft kit mentioned earlier, they both seem to do the same thing, but the arm kit looks sexier[;)]

I found that the TB01 (rally) without universals in the front would not turn smoothly when the steering was locked in either direction.

I think whatever method you choose you'll want universals in the front - they make a huge difference.

I jsut got back from holiday and I ran my TB-01 on gravel there for a while. It wasn't really a rare occasion that the (plastic head) dogbone would pop out the cup locking the steering and the drive up... [:(]

Anyone know if the Raybrig uses special dampers, or just spacers inside the shocks to reduce ride height?

I was tormenting the cat last nite and the car kept bottoming on the creases in the rug[xx(]

If it's just spacers, any ideas for the part number of longer springs? (Raybrig ones are only diddy)

I just got the long suspension arm kit on my tb01, but was dissapointed to see that it came with bushings and not ball bearings. I was just going to swap my ball bearings over but they are a differnt size. Does anyone know what size of ball bearings I need to buy to use on the wide suspension arms? Thanks

The tb01/tg10 long arm kit uses 1260 bearings.

The kit is not meant to widen the car but change the uprights pivot on the arms. It only adds about 3mm.

You cannot use the long arm universals in the standard suspension. This is because the universals have a diameter of 6mm and the standard uprights have an inside diameter of 11mm.

It might be possible to make the odd size bearings out of two sets of bearings 11x8 & 8x6 ?
