Decent Battery

Hello all,

I am going to buy a new battery for my car but i am unsure which to get. I have a 1700 pack at the minute and i have seen 3700 battery packs! Will this fry my esc even though it is a decent no limit one? Also anybody recommend any makes and where to shop? Also how do you store batteries flat or fully charged?

Hi.

You will most certainly see a performance and runtime increase with 3700s, so that'll be a good move.

The ESC will be fine, although your charger may not.

Do you have one with Peak detection or a timer?

Is it capable of charging NiMH cells?

There are a lot of opinions on storing cells, so do a search through the forums, and ye shall find!

You can buy them anywhere really. The best brand are GP and Sanyo, although I have some of the Sakura ones, purchased from TimeTunnel models (subscriber discount availible) and I've heard that their 3300s can be had for under £20 each!

Yes i have a peak charger its old but i think its pretty good. I will have a look at what TT has to offer im glad my esc will be okay as i have melted an ESC before and they are expensive so thanks for info.

interesting thread, i run a standard TT-01 with the TEU-101BK ESC, can anyone tell me the largest battery pack i can safely use without causing any damage please, and exactly what difference it may or may not make, (is it speed, length of running time or both) thanks.

Capacity will make no difference to the rest of the car, it will just increase runtime. The highest capacity you can buy at the moment is 3800mAh.

You will also notice that better quality cells have more punch and speed than cheap ones.
