i recently bought a tt01 tamiya car, and wanted to buy some upgrades. so i listed some parts, ballraces, alu shaft, motor etc. but im stuck on which motor to buy. can anyone tell me the difference between the tamiya super stock motor TZ and the super stock motor RZ? i read somewhere its something to do with torque and RPM but it wasnt clear (and you guys are pros) thanks in advance

also what are the best (reccomended) upgrades for the tt01

The tz motor has more torque and the rz has 1,000 more rpm but both the rz is still very torquey.

The best upgrades would be

bearings

alu prop shaft

metal motor mount

new motor I would actually reccomend the ones you suggested as they keep within the limits of the esc.

Oh yeah and if you use the search button in the top right you will find tonnes of information regarding the TT-01 .[:D]

ok thanks mate!

so how do i know if it is within limits of my esc. (its the one that came with it) do you think i should go for the cheaper RS540 sport tuned one?

The turns of the motor must be the same or less turns as the esc is rated for, the tamiya esc (electric speed controller) is rated for 23 turns so the rz or tz would be pushing its boundaries.

Well, the sport tuned motor would show a bit more accel and top end but not as much as the tz or rz. This is due to the fact that the end is closed and it is of lower quality however the more powerful the motor the less runtime.

So the sport tuned would give less speed and more runtime than the other two and the tz or rz would give more speed less runtime, the choice is yours[:D].

I'll try and find a link explaining motors in more detail. EDIT found one http://www.teamorion.com/faq/motor1.asp

Actually RZ has even a bit higher torque then TZ if you compare their curves, but TZ has a bit lower power/ESC needs, I think its the same motor just RZ has laydown brushes.

Ok here are the differences;

Tz

* No. of turn: 23 turns

* Proper voltage range: 7.2V

* RPM at no load: 26,500rpm (7.2V) B

* Best efficiency: 78%

* Torque at best efficiency: 500gf.cm (7.2V)

Rz

* No. of turn: 23 turns

* voltage range: 7.2V

* RPM at no load: 27,500rpm (7.2V)

* Best efficiency: 76%

* Torque at best efficiency: 500gf.cm (7.2V)

So the Rz is the better performer I am unsure of the torque curve though but the Tz would give the best runtime.

ok. thanks guys for the help seeing as this was my first topic. i think i'll go for the Rz then and maybe just buy a new battery. This is a great forum
