Got a battery for my Kyosho bike, but it comes with a non 'Tamiya' plug.

Any ideas what sort of charger I should ask for?

Went in to a not-so-local hobby store, and from my description, they reckoned a charger would be £80+!

I got a 600 and an 1100.

Doesnt the battery write its capacity on it? I remember vaguely it was something like 270 mAh like in the Tamtechs, will check at home tonight.

My advice would be to get yourself one good charger for 80+P which can charge anything from your Tx Rx batteries till the 7.2V packs.

Suspect the HPI Micro RS4 plugs should be able to fit.

If not, go to any electronics geekshop and pickup some Molex pins on strips. They'll fit into the 2 pin holes...

HPI micro spares have a female micro plug attached to a Tamiya plug.

spare parts number HP1072 HPI Micro Connector (Tamiya Plug To Mini Plug) available from Apexmodels for £1.99 I've got the Kyosho bike and an HPI Micro and they are the same plugs. This lets you use a standard charger. Just don't fast charge it!! [;)]

fast charging usually puts more amps through on the current, which is fine for a standard 7.2v pack but will melt these smaller packs and start a fire! [:(] I learnt this from experience! [:D]

Why can't I fast charge it?

Normal Sub-C size batteries are designed with a pressure release vent built in to the cells. This means you can safely charge them at high currents without blowing yourself up as the vent releases the build up of gasses inside the battery when it gets overcharged. The smaller cells can only be charged at lower currents as they have no safety measures built in.

(You can fast charge the smaller cells, but you do not want to be around when one explodes!)

Nice one Adam, many thanks

I did look thru Modelsport 'motorcycle' section, but didn't find it there, so gave up.

Cheers chap[:D]
