i would go for a blackfoot serie's

run the old version, a mud blaster, real fun to play but not a

real "terain master" , just big & fun to play with.

my king blackfoot is still nib so i can't judge about

his driving. But suspect it is the same/close to it..

on gravel & rocks the blackfoot is real good. But in the sand it's a digger. But again.. I would take the blackfoot (or alike) , no doubt.

(hey, but i just like that serie!)

I would suggest a King Balckfoot, but I'm biased... Please check out my site for some action pics, that should make your desicion clear! [8D]

A Wild Dagger might also be a good choice, with 4WD it will be better in rough terrain, but the King Blackfoot is a lot prettier, and faster too. I have compared them once and I was faster, but for climing up a pile of sand I needed a little more runway, the Wild Daggers 4WD pulls it up the hill, where the KBF need to fly over it... [:)]

Soke weak point of the KBF are the rear bogbones. The make a pretty big angle and wear out rapidly, lowering it somwhat should help maybe. The steering system is very sloppy, but I am working on a nice solution on that. It also tend to be a little more top-heavey with a ABS shell on it, so the trick is not to roll it over... [;)]

Maybe these are something to look out for...? [:D]

If you have a look in my showroom you'll find a king blackfoot with a red Subaru pick up shell on it. Its here http://' target="_blank">http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=13241&id=1647

Just shows you what can be done with a 2wd truck, the picture of the hill doesn't look very steep, it was very steep indeed.

They are great fun, especially with a lexan body fitted as your not scared of recking the body and they go slightly better.

Mine had the following hop ups:

Decent ESC

17 Turn motor

Full bearings

Losi XX aluminium shocks all round

Modified rear end (See pics)

Sadly it has now been swapped for a Pajero XB (Another one)

All in all they are a great truck, I peronsally prefer them to Wild Daggers (I had one new and modded it)

I've had 3 mini's and think they rock, but when you say off road I had to laugh, all mine used to get stuck if the went on short grass.

By off road, did you mean the pavement - only kidding.

I'm trying to find another mini for the mrs and I've got a decent Paypal balance burning a whole. I aint paying £78 for a new one from fusion though (Thats not a slur on fusion) I'd rather buy one complete.

Thanx [:I]

You cant escape a mini...

Now this is offroading: http://kobe.cool.ne.jp/taromaru32/ahiru2003/mini.html

And this is how to make mini offroading tyres

Ah well....

I have often wanted a go at a Pajero, but there unfortuantly vintage now... What about something like a Juganought (sure its spelt wrong) or a jugganaught 2(one day I will spell it right?

IMO the pajero/isuzu/wrangler/crv series rock.

So far I've got 2 Isuzu Mu's 1 of them was NIB but now been built, the other was a heap of sh** when I got it, I fully sorted the chassis and I'm working on the body.

I've also got 2 Pajero XB's, again one was NIB but I've used it now (Gently) and the other I got in a trade which has been hopped to badword and back and is superb off road, in a scale way, it wont climb over massive rocks, but It does crawl brilliantly (See my showroom for pics)

The hopped Pajero has both diffs locked for traction, alloy bodied shocks, full bearings, motor heat sink, decent ESC, the motor is from a Dewalt 18 volt battery drill (I found someone who had 3 of these and bought the lot)

It only drives at a fast walking pace but has bags of torque. To give you an example, if its flat out and you apply full brakes it stops in about 9" without locking any wheels. If you nail it from a standstill it lifts one of the front wheels about 2-3" off the ground until it picks up speed (not very long) and to top it all, with a Sanyo 2400 pack it has a run time of upto an amazing 80 minutes.

As you can tell I would recommend an XC chassied car, but they are grief to get hold of. The NIB Mu was from Japan (£160) and the Pajero XB was fromt the USA and cost about £170 all in.

Here's a picture of it in actionPajero08.jpg

I've managed to source a Mini today off ebay so that should be here in a few days. I also bought a Peugeot 306 off ebay but from a Tamiyaclub member. Been an expensive week, should be a fun weekend though.....

I think the XC series of truck rock also. I have a lot of fun with my Wrangler. In fact I was driving it over this wekeend at a park. There were all kinds of scale size rocks and sticks to drive over. The most challenging thing about the truck is that you have to drive it like a real truck. It makes you a better driver.

nice truck shodog, I'm not normally a Wrangler fan but yours looks good, good to see one actually getting used.

There are too many 'shelf queen' XC cars (I'm guilty of it)

Once I get the 'dog rough' Mu sorted I'll put some pics in my showroom, I'm trying to decide on a paint scheme, I'm torn between Japanese Military or a police vehicle (USA, plenty to choose from)

Any suggestions???

I have owned a Wild dagger and they can make great off roaders, but you need to bin the standard shocks.

As with all the cars I own/have owned. I fitted full ball races and an ESC to the one I had, it was great fun and pretty good at crawling too. I never bothered changing motors etc, but they are a little weird to tune motor-wise as one operates backwards to the other due to the dual gearbox layout. It can be done, but it gets expensive.

If I were to build another Wild Dagger I would do the following:

Full Ball races

Decent shocks

Decent ESC

With the better shocks you can raise the chassis a fair bit, you need to modify the steering linkage to make the wheels point straight when doing this.

If you want something really good straight out of the box go for a Big Tamiya truck. But these cost Big money.

Whats your budget

how much would a full set of decent shocks cost me? and when you say modify the steering would i have to buy other parts or do i just have to adjust it.

As i already have the radio gear from when i bought my first car, would I be able to just buy another receiver with the identical crystals to the one in my radio? I already have a spare servo left over from when i replaced my MSC with an ESC, and I could use the ESC i already have with my other car. (Mtroniks eco20). would i be able to do that without having to buy a whole new radio set?

thx, chris.
