Has anyone ever seen a r/c version of this car? It would be nice to see tamiya design one of these with a custom hard body, decals, push bumper, and even attenna. I really think sales would be good. Eveyone seams to like the show young and old. Some kind of a buggie chassie would be good to use so we all could jump it like in the t.v. show.

What do you people think?

To be honoust I think that a hard body version of any classic cars like the Dodge Charger or Challenger would sell well. There are a lot of people who like those older cars and now they have to buy alternatives such as Parma and Bolink. I think I don't need to explain that these ain't comparable to the detail and quality Tamiya delivers...

cheers,

That reminds me, I have a 1/8th? Pontiac Trans Am '79 plastic model kit sat in my parents attic. Now imagine that shell on an RC car...might just dig it out when I'm back there next.[:D]

Its the car from the 1980's TV show 'The Dukes of Hazard' it's a Plymouth I think. Like the legendary Plymouth Superbird without the huge spoiler on the back.

It was much stronger than any other car ever made and could withstand massive jumps and being rammed through fences etc without showing any damage at all [;)]

1969 Charger!

Yep, Dodge charger, also famous for its appearance in the film Bullitt (the baddies car!), 426 hemi - 150mph top speed. Yes, I'm sad....... poor handling though, only works in a straight line! One of the final muscle cars before high insurance, high fuel costs(well for the yanks anyway) and emission controls killed them off.

for what its worth, I would just be happy with some unique lexan bodies. Yeah, parma and bolink make some, but I was thinking of cars like the Plymouth Volare, or mabey a yugo, or a Bentley Arnage, and definantly some vans.

A Bentley Arnage would be cool, and if there were some van bodies available I'd surely buy some.

I always wondered why they never made a hard body which could be customised by "body tuning parts" such as exist for 1:1 cars. I'm sure that if they would make for example a VW Golf body with separate custom bumpers, light kits, spoilers, ... would certainly be popular.

it is a charger yes, i am still looking for a 1/12 1/10 1/8 ... hard body dodge charger, i'll have a plan.. who ha ha ha..

no serieus , have looked around. But still have not found a good "base" for a dukes of hazard car (jep, we know them in the netherlands to)

The Plymouth Superbird I mentioned earlier was capable of 200mph from the factory, It probably cornered like a run-away tea trolley though (That expression isn't for the exclusive use of Ford Capri owners)

Hi W&G, if that is the car I'm thinking of I've got a nice pic somewhere of it racing a Mustang fighter plane down a runway.....the plymouth 'looked' faster [:P] - makes an escort cossie look positively sedate!!

Aah, the General. Teh specs varied because they used sooo many cars during the years they made the program. For the closeups and general driving about they used mainly a 426 Hemi which featured an Eldebrock 'torquer' induction system. Hemi is an abbreviation of Hemispherical, an type of V8 engine that gives more power than any other V8 (even the larger 440 Magnum available in the '69 Charger). Some Cars used in the series had 440 Magnums and some the smaller V8's, but the 426 Hemi was shown in most of the programs.

I hankyoooo [^]

I've been looking for a photo all day of a shell i did two years ago which i did as the 'General' Couldn't find anything which remotely ressembled a Dodge Charger so i used a Honda Accord shell! Totally wrong shape but it looked cool and everyone at my local club loved it.

Those who went to the Winter meet at Clumber Park might remember it as one of the shells the monster trucks were crushing!!

I threw one of those away about a year ago. I believe it was quite a big larger than a 1/10 RC chassis. However, it would have nice to try :(
