In Belgium we also had them on TV, luckily not dubbed but with original sound and subtitles.

Stefan, what concerns the static models, I think 1/12 is the biggest size. Maybe you'll find some 1/10 models but I think they are very rare.

Go small!

Tower do a 1/24 scale General that fits nicely onto a modified Mini-Z chassis!

Bit of plastic card to extend the chassis, couple of bits of packing foam and velcro to fit body in place, and vwallar - Mini Lee!

In my 'pending' box, I got a Charger, 2 Lunchbox style vans and a couple of others that escape my memory!

Even in Greece they played it in very early 80s, much before Germany and luckily everything has only subtitles thre but original audio, yeee haaaah! [8D]

I really did not think this topic would take off this well. I asked tamiya if they would ever think of doing this and the person responding said

"Unfortunately, I myself have never seen an vintage American car model by Tamiya, but your suggestion will be given."

I hope they think about it.

I don't think they really look into what people some people want, if they did they would make a bucket load of cash by re-issuing the 3 speed series of cars.

I'm sure we'd all be tempted by a NIB Bruiser for £400 wouldn't we

How true W&G, I'm getting fed up of Tamiya and others concentrating on touring cars that you simply can't use in your garden. How many people buying these things actually race them at a local club? very few I would imagine. The range of buggies that are produced are very poor and not built to the rugged standards of the SRB days. Surely there must be a market for rugged vehicles that people can actually play with in their back yards? The problem with most is that they break at the sight of a kerb or whatever so in a limited space you worry about driving them. My LHS hadly stocks any buggy parts as most (90+) of his business is touring cars?! Now if tamiya produced a 'General Lee' on a rugged chassis, good ground clearance and skid plates it would make for great fun! 2WD with a hugely torquey motor so that you could re-enact the power slides of the film!!

and an A-Team van! Oh, by the way do any of you guys remember the 'Fall Guy'?? Lee Majors played a stunt person, drove a great big pickup truck - got me into pickups that series....I'm now on my 5th pickup in a row [8D]

I have been "shopping" today on the web , towerhobbies is sold out for the 1/10 general. To bad, only the 1/12 they still have.. But, i want a biggy'one. And Bolink won't answer my email.. mmmmm..

i'll just go check some toy store's , see if they got any "toy" general or close to it in big scale. Then i just mod a chassis and build my own.

I've been getting mails bounced from Bolink for ages, Tower seem to be out of practically every shell, and the UK importers took six weeks to get one for a mate.

I heard somewhere they had a fire or similar catastrophe, but that was ages ago

I remember the fall guy and his big brown ford? truck. I certainly remember Daisy Duke...

The touring car scene is pretty dire, theres a couple of kids down my road with them, it always makes me laugh when I see them thrashing Nikko Evo's down the road at about half the speed of my Mrs's Mini.

I do have a touring car myself, a Peugeot 306 Maxi, but I run it with a Blue and white Mondeo shell as I prefer it's older looks. It's pretty good fun but I much prefer driving my Pajero at very low speeds.... My collection is always changing though, trying to get shot of all the touring stuff and going towards off road stuff.

My Mrs prefers driving the Pajero 'plugger' as its much much slower and it stops before the kerb, unlike her mini....

I think ertl sells a 1:18 diecast model that you build your self for around $40.00. To bad it is 1:18 scale but it might fit my mini cooper I wish their were more spec's in the model kit. Or I should just go buy on it's only $40.00

Just speaking with Keith (Dazmeisters 959 shell making mate) and he's gonna have a look at a Charger body I got, for TB01 chassis (and oviously anything with similar dimensions)

Soon as I hear anything, it'll be posted here[:D]

While I was in Harrods the other week (see WildWilly2 in showroom for explanation) I managed to buy myself a Dukes of Hazzard General Lee - the 1/18 diecast one. Looks really cool on my bookshelf!! [8D] It is sat next to a 1/18th scale Mitsubishi Evo 6 rally car and it makes the evo look quite small!

Cool idea. Lee majors had a 80s GMC pickup in the Fall Guy, amt/ertl just re-released the kit of the truck in a blue paint scheme. The origional was a tan and brown job though......anybody remember what the huge mural on the hood was??[:D]

Hi TWINSET, I checked the wheelbase of the charger and at 1/10 scale it would be some 2 inches longer than a TB01. However, I would love to get a charger shell but I'd probably mount it on a 2WD buggy chassis to re-create the handling, power slides of the orginal car. Don't know about your TB01 but mine grips SOOOO well that getting a power slide isn't really possible - if it loses traction enough to slide it usually loses it big time or even rolls!! I have been studying the handling characteristics of various chassis that I have because I'm trying to get a runner that do controlled power slides etc (basically mimic the handling of a full size RWD car) but this really needs a heavy front end, light back end whereas most buggies have all the weight at the back. I think I'll have to build a custom chassis with front mounted motor but keep rear wheel drive?

Posted

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the dodge charger leaf sprung live axle rear and IFS front? What if we took the chassis and back axle from a 3spd HiLux, lowered it and fitted IFS up front with the front mounted motor????? Can't recall any RC cars ever being produced with this combination in the past?

The charger (bolink) I got looks remarkably stoopid on a TB01, but it is claimed to be 1/10.

It's also way too wide, so I guess shortening it and reducing the width would retain the proportions nicely.
