Right

Got a clod and a TXT. Want to run 1 receiver, 2 speedos, 2 motors and two batteries (in parallel, increasing run time ? ).

Both speedos have a battery plug on.

Now, for parallel, I gotta join two batteries into a single plug, right?

Once joined, do I then need to split that to run both the speedos?

I already have a 'y' piece for speedo/RX duties, but the battery/speedo thing is starting to make my teeth itch.

Anyone care to explain with pictures or short words[xx(]

pictures would be easy right?

too bad I ain't got none no more.

Anyway, 2 packs of cells and 2 speedos is easy, 1 pack powers each, feeding 1 motor each, and yes both speedos get their signal from 1 socket in the receiver hence the Y connector.

Only tricky bit is syncronising the speedos.

On a Clod you can use 2 different speedos and get away with it because each motor is powering a separate g.box, but on the TXT you really got to have 2 speedos the same, and do the setup at the same time to get the same power band.

Easy.

And fast too !!

Dunno why I ran my TXT with twin battery packs, twin esc's and two 17 turn motors and never suffered any problems with the motors, gears or battery life. I recommend it.

So did the RX get 14.4v or 7.2v ?

This is where the combining and splitting is frying my swede - the guy in my LHS said two 'seperate' setups fed down a RX 'Y' lead would toast the RX.

What I want is 7.2v from two 3000mah batteries, so I get a bit of run time, speed not an issue.

Also, if the batteries are permanently joined, does charging take twice as long?

yeah, what Rich said,

And the twin setup is made for the TXT !!

all you do is stand the 2 packs of cells up back to back and they go straight in the kit holder, just make longer pins to clip the battery bar onto.

Get a couple of nice tourquey motors and you'll be set, although the TXT does twist and flex a heck of a lot, I mounted the rear shocks direct and found that helped somewhat

If your worried about frying your RX and your not sure wether the speedo's have diodes in them to stop one ESC powering the circuitry for the other speedos circuitry you can chop one of the middle wires on the lead that goes from the ESC to the RX, you need to do this on the Speedo end of the Y lead, not the RX end as it will stop the RX getting any power at all.

Best bet is to disconnect the motors, or remove the pinions and make sure you can press the setup buttons on both speedos and switch them on/ plug in battery packs at the same time. Maybe a mate could help you with this....

Good luck

Hey Andy

Exactly what Biggus suggested too;

Now I can get some sleep - Cheers all

This might be a silly question [:I], but what is the advantage of running two speedos? One of my Clods runs with twin battery packs, two monster mayhem motors and a single Super Rooster ESC........performance is good as is the run time.

Interesting thread though because I'm gonna need to run two ESC's on my 6x6x6 Clod.......and god knows how many on my 10x10!!

Why 2 ESC's...

I think the major reason would be cost of the ESC's as you can get a pair of half decent ESC's cheaper than one serious ESC.

We all love going over the top don't we.....

Can't wait to see the 6x6x6 and the 10x10. I'm intruiged about how your going to steer them. We'll be calling you 'Y leads 'r' us' soon.

Just a cost thing really [;)]

Looked at twin motor speedos, and they're around £100 plus. For that price, I got 2 speedos and one and a half hi-torque servos.

At the minute, it's 'suck it and see', nothings permanent yet.

Hey wrigglegiggle............you got mail. Dunno how its gonna run but.............[:D]

TW.........I know where you're coming from on the cost front. The super rooster ESC that I run was $125 in the USA..........shipped in to the UK via the works diplomatic bag, but in the UK they're £100+ I must admit though I've got several Clods, all with their own radio

gear but the ESC gets swapped from truck to truck!!

Thanks for the info guys.
