I am considering upgrading the motor in my Blitzer Beetle from the RS540 to something with a little more power. I am not concerned with racing or anything, I am just curious as to what I can put in this car and still not have to worry about destroying my transmission. Oh, buy the way, I am Sunday driver when it comes to driving these things and tend not go from a dead stop to an abrupt start.[}:)] I will be using my trusty Novak Explorer II.

Just curious.

I have just recently installed a kyosho 240st in my progress. It sounds slower than my race stock motors, but is more than enough power for my fragile old buggy. Its vintage as well.

I like the tamiya dynatech series of motors. There is the 01H and 02R model. They are both modified motors. 02R is the hotter of the 2 motors. Else, go for the tamiya sports tune motor. Stock 27 turn with advanced timing. Standard on cars like the avante 2001 and the F2001.

In the old days, "ROAR stock" motors have fixed sealed cans that couldn't be opened for servicing.

Today's rebuildable stockers have openable cans with fixed timing, easily-identified rotors/cans/magnets and all components can be easily & cheaply replaced - including the motor's bushings.
