Hiya.

I have just bought a second hand monster beetle.

It worked fine until it hit a stool at a moderate speed, and now the wheels spin whether the power switch is on or off and the car won't respond to the controller.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the fault?

Thanks

Hi, Stefan.

There is no response from the steering servo.

I don't know which kind of speed controller it is, cos i'm new to this sport!

Leave the power on, and wiggle the wires going into the reciever. See if that changes anything. Sound like the connectors are loose inside the plastic clips that fit into the reciever.

Hiya.

No, it doesn't have any onboard batteries.

I was told by the guy i bought it from that the cars behaviour is due to a low battery charge. (Sorry!)

However... there is a small metal part attached to the outside of the chassis rail. There are three wires attached to it. It smokes like a sod when i plug the battery in. Anyone know what it is and if it's replaceable?

All and any help appreciated!!

Cheers,

Rick

That part is the resistor there should be a rectangular ceramic part inside the metal bracket, if its smoking then its shot and needs replacing. Most local Model shops should be able to help you.

hi there,

rewire the whole thing, i know it looks like a big task but the cars wiring is really quite basic,

it will help you to get to understand how the car works- so if it breaks, you can fix it!

just check over all the wires/connections etc before buying new parts, it might pay off, the gear in my beetle is around 16 years old, and it all works fine, my beetle just needs a new diff!![:(]
