i have had alot of ppl ask all sorts of question when im using one of rc cars....

and one of the most common is " how much are they"

id reply with "depends on what you want"

they say "a full car RTR for my son"

and id say "anything from $150aud new up to a $1000.."

and of course they walk off going..what a waste..is rather buy a DVD player something...

what about all those ppl collecting stamps, pokemon ****,cards, marbels, matchbox cars,coins.....i say that is a waste...

id rather buy a new $50 motor than buy any of those....

you all agree??

later ppl

Everyone has differnet opinions on what to spend money on. It depends on how much you have and what your into though - so don't worry about anyone else, just go your own way.

I know people that can't believe how much my hifi costs for example. So what? I love it.

Buying an expensive RC car is just another fun toy to add to everything else I own. No big deal.

HI-FI.... I know it's easy to spend huge fortunes on it, I used to be a Hi Fi fan. I know one guy who spent more on an Amplifer than you would pay for a NIB Hi-Lux

And it didn't even have a Graphic equaliser and flashing lights [;)] LOL

The people who think a DVD player is better value than an RC car are seeing that car as just another piece of merchandise. To us it's just a small piece of a collection, there is a huge difference. I buy a postage stamp to send a letter, some pay thousands for stamps to add to their collection, not as a means to post a letter.

I think you're preaching to the converted(or however you english people say it), nismospeed.

Thats one of the advantages of capitalism: you can spend your cash anyway you like as long as its yours. Except maybe if you work in the government.

Just a little comment to W&G. There was a program not long ago on Norwegian TV about HI-FI freaks. One of the guys in the program had stuff worth over 100.000£ in his living-room. The problem he had was that the room wasn`t built perfectly. He came to the conclusion that he had to tear his great looking house down and build a new one on the same place. This time he would start with the stereo-room and then build the rest. The house he planned to trash was built by his granddad and handed down thru the generations but it just had to go.

There were plenty of similar maniacs in the program.

I actually liked the program as it made it easy to convince my wife that my RC collection isn`t so bad after all.[^]

Well, in my country the govermenement tend to like doing that sort of thing though! [:P] lol

Nismospeed, if you are asking us: Do you think spending lots of money on RC cars then you will only get obvious answers. We all do it, each in our own way though... [;)]

Yet in my opinion; of course it's crazy! But I live for this madness! I just love engineering and for some reason especially the engineering efforts Tamiya put into their products.

It started with the sight of the big King Blackfoot box... I bought a Fighter Buggy... I heared stories of some sort of 'Tamiya metal beetle'... I bought a second hand Holiday Buggy... I was hooked and wanted more blast from the past. Now I have quite many of the rare and vintage cars I could ever ask for, Hilux, Bruiser, Mountaineer, Sand Scorcher, even a second SS!

In the end, I really love having all these cars and I'm very proud I managed to get them. But in the end, I found out that I love my King Blackfoot most! Is it madness? Not really... Is it love? Most definately. [8D] I will never regret having spend my money on RC cars...

DOH! I could have bought a top-of-the-line DVD player with the money! [:(!]

EDIT:

I checked my PC and there is a DVD player in there. No worries anymore then. [:P]

DOH! I could have bought DVD's for it with all that money! LOL

Some can be priceless, where others are just everyday runners. I think as long as the box is in good condition it doesn't matter. [;)][;)][;)][;)][;)]

I'm 'just' 17 also...

I have more (and nicer [:P] ) RC cars than the avarage teenager, yet more hair than the avarage TC member! [8D]

[:D]Ja! Good one there, Sjoerd.

Before I started going steady with my girlfriend I would by at least 3 music CD's per month.

¡Five years later Im still with her and Ive bought only 4!Total!

As axpensive as RC is, there is absolutely no comparison in terms of money spent with girls.

Enjoy being 17.

Where I live there seems to be very few proper R/C cars, I've only seen one nitro powered car running and that was a cheap thing, the guy was having fun right until I fired up the landmax and kicked its a$$.

The only electric cars I have seen are Nikko evolutions (Moderator, please delete if thats classed as swearing - LOL) so I havent even bothered racing them.

ahahha nikko...just gotta laugh at hose slow pieces of junk....

ahh went to the club today...i didnt realise how fast electric cars go...there was a dude with a car(dunno what brand) with a 10x3 reedy motor..and this car was very fast....compared to the nitro ones it was fast...there where only 2 or 3 that could keep up to it, intill the batteries died...lol

behind oh house is an ally way that goes up alone a bumpy gravel road...wich has marks all over it from my frog[:D]

lots of fun

cheers
