Wanted Carson BMW and Audi Bodyshells

I am told the S-line is not out yet.

One suggestion that I used to get my M3 (the older ALMS Schnitzer car 42/43), was go on Ebay uK or Germany and look for those bodies/kits there. I then emailed the sellers and asked if they would ship to the uS, most said yes. I even paid with my cc and paypal and had no issues. I will see if I can find the people that I purchased from and post the info.

I too wish they sold Carson stuff over here. Some of there stuff has great realism.

Let me know which route you go, I still need to chase some of those kits.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. That's very helpful. I'm a big BMW fan and this is the best E46 M3 body I think to date. The molding looks as if Tamiya produced it but never used they're own branding on it. The HPI one is decent but the proportions are simply off.

I agree 100% with you. I have two of the kits that I mentioned, the E46 with Schnitzer sponsorship. My thought was to use the decals from the HPI car to have both, Schnitzer and PTG.

I will see what I come up with and get back to you in the morning. Glad to see there some other road racing fans in the forum.

Thanks!

Do you have pictures of the E46 that your speaking of? I saw one generic PTG body in your collection. It's hard to tell from the pics but are the proportions better then the HPI body?

I also couldn't help but notice that you have quite a few Kyosho Mclaren bodies. I've been hoping and praying a manufacturer would release the short tail again which is still hands down my favorite car body of all time. I'd love to get my hands on the kyosho or HPI shortails. I just found this today which seems to have an identity crisis in terms of the length but it still looks like a mclaren:

Here's a pic of my longtail:

soulstice, I have two of the McLaren Short-tails and a number of longtails that are new and unpainted, but sorry I cannot let them go. The are EXTREMELY difficult to find, especially the short-tails. One short tail kit or decal set that I have not been able to find is the Harrod's livery. The seem to have all but disappeared from the face of the earth.

I need to update my showroom and might do so this weekend. I can take some pics of the E46, but the link that Tamiya Learner posted shows the body and decals that I have. I should post a pic of my short tail too (Gulf livery). BTW, I do have an extra Gulf short tail decal set if you are interested.

That generic PTG car is from a no name RC company. I thought it was pretty accurate and the kit was really cheap so I bought one. Carson still is the most accurate that I have seen.

Your long tail looks really good!!!

I totally understand. I've been looking on and off for mclarens for quite some time so I know how hard they are to come by, especially the shorttails. I see longtails pop up every so often but the shorttails are impossible to find. I was on hiatus from the hobby when they were readily available so I missed out but you've done very well fulfilling your collection. I wouldn't let them go either.

If your bodies are painted, please do post pics. Also where did you buy your Carson kit?

My E46 came from what I said in the earlier posts, looked on Ebay uK and asked the seller if he would ship to the uS. It was so long ago I cannot remember his ID.

Here is one site that did tell me they ship to the uS, they speak fair english:

Also, if you go to Ebay Germany, look up seller ID: rc-designer. The saleswoman name is Marion, she said they would ship to the uS. She also speaks fair English.

Good luck. Hope this helps. I will take a couple of pics of my painted short tail tonight.......

Good luck!

Modelsport in the uK seem to stock a few Carson shells and I am sure can order particular ones in if you can wait.

I am sure they ship to the uS too - might be worth considering if you are a subscriber as the TC discount may offset the shipping a little.

Cheers,

Chris

soulstice> The body you have linked to is definitely a shorttail McLaren F1 GTR.. usually we have loads of those bodies here in Denmark, as they are much used in the open Stock-class of electric Touring car racing here in Denmark,, I have run the Vixen McLaren on several occasions, and it runs super, especially attached to an Associated TC3 running a stock motor. In that class we have free choice of bodies, and due to the low and sleek design, the McLaren was widely used last year.. this year, however, the place as "most used" has been taken over by the fabulous Mazda 6 body from Protoform..

The Vixen body is OK in quality, but i would not call it top-class, as the rear wing is much too little for competitive racing (in my opinion).. also, the front wheel arches are a bit "rough" and casual in my opinion again, but the body is certainly worth the money none the less..

So give CML a shout, and be sure to pick up a few of them, of course, this depends on whether they still have them in their selection or not..

Good luck tracking it down..

Oh and Jay.. i have mailed you again with a link, just in case you have not seen the mail yet..

Cheers..

Michael
